Nice- What are you going with for Pump?
Good luck and keep up updated.

My P-Day is a few months away yet. But love hearing about others and their move over from MDIs.

Thanks for the support. I've got a few nerves to go with the excitement.
As far as the hardware goes:
Minimed 722
Real time monitoring as as soon as they fill the backorders on the sensors. Should be in a couple of weeks.
Going to be pumping Apidra.
It's all new to me.

... I've got a few nerves to go with the excitement .... It's all new to me...
Good luck with that, Mike. I will also get hooked up to a pump trial on Monday - the Cozmo. Spent a couple of hours last night reading the manual and pushing the buttons. After 30 years of doing shots, I feel both excited and apprehensive about the prospect doing things differently. We will have to compare notes ... :)

The nerves are starting to set in. I'm going to spend most of tomorrow getting all of my ducks lined up in a row for Monday morning.
Got to make sure that I don't forget to bring anything with me to the Endos office, and I'm going to re-read all of the literature and spend the afternoon playing with my new pump.
As nervous as I'm getting, I can't wait.

Make sure you have plenty of test strips. You will test alot the first few days , then still alot after that.

Already have 200 with five refills available. I'm already testing 8+ times a day.
I can't wait until I go on the continious monitoring setup. It should make my life a lot easier.

Less than 24 hours and counting!

Congrats Mike and good luck.
I go for my training Wednesday. The trainer wants to start saline, then I go live with insulin next week.
I'm nervous too so you aren't alone. :)

Though I will be part of the Borg, I will never be totally assimilated.

Thank you Cin.
With the group here, I don't think any of us could be alone if we wanted to.
One question though. Why is your trainer starting you on saline?
Just curious.

I am curious why they do that with some pumpers too.
I know your circumstance is a little different Cin.
I got a couple of hours training with MM rep at my house and was hooked up then with insulin and have been pumping since then. I know other people that do the saline trial also, wonder why some do and some dont. :hmmmm:

So true Mike. Actually, I'm wondering that too. I intend to find out though.

Hardly slept last night. Thank god for coffee!
In a couple of hours MDI's will be a thing of the past.
WOO HOO!
Still pretty anxious thlough. This too shall pass. (I was going to say something crass, but decided against it.)
Have fun everyone. I'll check in later.

Well it's finally up and running! I was amazed at how easily everything went.
I must say that my trainer was pretty d**n good. He walked me through everything, and more than that, he made sure that I understood it all as well.
I've already started using the meal bolus features, and I'm going to see about setting temporary basal rates tomorrow at the gym.
And I'm really looking forward to being able to actually enjoy a few of the things that I gave up so many years ago. ;)
I can see that this is going to make my quality of life so much better. I should have done this years ago.

So glad it went well, Mike. I wish I had got a pump years ago too. I like being able to test my sugar and bouls at the table when decide what to eat and not having to drag out a needle or pen for a shot, just push a couple of buttons and I am done.

Good luck Mike! BlueSky...how are you doing? Since I'm not a pumper yet...I appreciate the "beginning days" feedback.

You oldtimers (pumpers) are way too glib sometimes!

24 hours down. A few issues, but nothing that keeping an eye on and making some adjustments won't take care of.
We'll definately have to make some basal tweaks here and there. Especially when blood sugars are in the 40's in the middle of the night.
Getting used to sleeping with it and showering with the infusion botton already.
All in all, I'm very pleased with everything so far.

Mike
