Number swings following surgery?

I had two surgeries last week and my numbers are swinging wildly. I will wake high and then have maybe three lows during the day. Now, the problem is that I am still on a mix. The docs really don't want to change me over to MDI so close to surgery.
Any ideas anyone? I would really appreciate the help.

With mix you need food for the fast-acting portion. Have you been eating or getting an IV? Have they changed your doses? You are also obviously in some stress too.

I was on iv but am now starting to eat properly again. It has been difficult getting back on a proper diet as at first I was just rejecting anything I ate. Now I am beginning to tolerate food much better.
