Just got my new results, after 4 months from the last blood work.

A1C of 6.5 :( (I was 6.1 in April)

My Cholesterol is doing pretty good.
HDL = 1.6
LDL = 2.6

Overall Dr. was very happy with me as a patient. He says he doesn't see many patients with an A1C below 7 but that we wants me in particular to tighten it up even more if I can.
He also mentioned that my LDL cholesterol is perfect, if I wasn't a diabetic. So, he wants me to go on Lipitor 20mg.....so I'll debate that over the next few months. Afterall I was only 2.6 and I need to get it below 2.0. I have enough pills that I already forget to take (Altace and ASA) so adding another? We'll see.

Dude, you've been diabetic for a year, and have already achieved better A1cs then I did in 24 years. So get rid of the little purply smiley face or else I will get Darcy Tucker to come and kick your... well, you know.

I'd rather a 6.5 with beers, then a 5.9 with only water and low-carb, fat-free, taste free, vitamin enriched, oxygenated, Omega 3 added, all natural, no preservative rice cakes......

Celebrate dude, 6.5 rocks.

;) So get rid of the little purply smiley face or else .
Witty comebacks:

1 - What little purply smiley? On my PC it's a vommit head.

2 - It's still called a "smiley", so it MUST be good right?

LOL. Actually, shouldn't the be called emoticons?

I swear when I have kids, I won't understand anything they say, and they will just email me from living room with so many wacky icons I get a migraine.

Enjoy your success, because that's what it is, not a failure. Nothing is a failure when it comes to the big D anyway, as long as you're trying.

Not like my Bears anyway......

I totally agree G!

I think 6.5 is a good number too Injecto. In the last year, you've gone through a lot of crappola, including your honeymoon stage, and if 6.5 is the worst you've gotten, well, that's **** good. Cheers.

What they said! And, I take Zocor even though I had cholesterol numbers that my non-diabetic friends envied. I look at it the other way...what's one more pill, you got to take the others anyway! Get one of those little daily pill boxes, no one has to know it it yours.

6.5 is PDG. I've only had 3 tests in 30+ years under 7. I will probably join you soon, I may even sneak above 7. I've been wandering all over the place lately.

Not trying to say your frustration is unjustified but I would kill for a 6.5. To date, I have never been under 7.:(

My view is that the less we interfere with the way our body works, the better the job it can do in looking after itself. Beware of over-medication. After 30 years of being T1, the only medication I take is insulin.

Penny!:) I have a pill box filled with my ace inhibitors and multivitamins, but do you think I can ever remember to take the bloody little things??? Ugh - so frustrating! My 3 month supply of ace inhibitors lasts much, much longer than that!

Great job, Injecto.

I have an endo appmt on the 25th, and I'm hoping my A1c is down to a 6.5 or less.

I had the same problem, then I moved my meter and Novolog and Lantus supplies all to the same plastic box in this room right by my computer. I take my morning pills as soon as I do my fasting test. Evenings I test to eat supper and take those pills. I still have trouble remembering the lunch time pills as I sometimes do not eat lunch and do not test unless my numbers had been off earlier. But I only take a Metformin and a couple of vitimin supplements then.
