how can i get rid of the sticky residue that gets left behind after changing my site?
i've found i can remove the old site with less resistance once its soaked in the shower for a few minutes (didnt get it off soon enough yesterday and think i pulled some skin off as well). but i seem to end up with a circle of goo after removal. ive still got 3 other circles from my last site changes! its not looking attractive!
If you have any Skin Prep or IV Prep, it works great to REMOVE goo...and yes, the intention of the stuff is to make stuff stick better--seems ironic, but...

ive got something called "remove" my nurse got me. it looks like skinprep but you use it to remove the goo and also the set itself. dissolves the glue. it is very good.

Any store that sells cleaning product in the US will also sell a product called Goo Gone. Target and walmart for example both carry it. It works great for removing adhesive and is safe on the skin.
Here's what the bottle looks like.

I'm curious if baby oil on a cotton ball would work. I use baby oil to remove the sticky stuff left behind when the kids stick stickers where there not supposed to, like mirrors and dressers. I never have any residue left when I change my sets so I can't try it on myself!

Isn't there a warning on Goo Gone to not use topically?

It should, but sometimes the solution is worse than the problem...I would be leery of using too much baby oil--I mean, it has its place, I guess, but ... :D

Could be, but I don't think so. It's basically orange oil. I've been using it at work everyday for the past four years and I've never had any problems with it. Plus theres a thing called soap you can use to wash it off after the "goo" is removed. ;)

I like the Unomedical Insets for an infusion set. Each comes with it's own easy to use inserter and the sets hold well without leaving any goo upon removal. They are still easy to remove, but I've never had one fall off. I tried the Cleo 90's, but strangely they would not attach and would remain in the inserter.
The IV Prep is an antiseptic, we are inserting a foreign object into our bodies after all. The IV Prep also helps the set to stick, without any goo. You apply it and let it dry before placing the set. I actually reuse the same IV Prep pad and apply it to the wound from the set being removed after inserting my new set.

Meh. Now you're asking me to add another step. :D

I haven't had the problem until after my surgery (this is weird) but I have started to have "rings" remaining also. After my incisions had healed and the doctor removed the tape over them, he told me not to use alcohol (at least not topically :D ) but to use fingernail polish remover to remove the adhesive residue. I tried some of my daughters stuff and it works really well.

i've been out and bought some surgical spirits, but now ive read it causes the skin to toughen up so thats outa the question, think i'll try the baby oil option ;) (purely for medicinal purposes ;) )
ive managed to remove the rings using some petroleum jelly...defiantely need soap after using that stuff!
i changed my set yesterday after only 2 days...the itching was driving me round the bend! the skin was quite sore from the patch, doesnt seem to happen with each one though so maybe it had been rubbing against my clothing or something. i dont get soreness from the cannula at all.
