My son is getting closer and closer to starting the pump. We are so excited. I have talked to the endo about his skin condition (I will get to that in a min) and she said she would try a few things out. But I wanted to see if anyone here has some suggestions.
My son was born with a rare skin disorder called Ichthyosis. Basically his skin regenerates at a much faster rate then normal skin. So he has a build up of skin in areas such as hands, knees and feet. Generally his trunk is dry and flakey and is prone to rashes. Normal Band-Aids and Plastic Band Aids will leave a bad prickly red bump type rash surrounding the area the band aid touched. The only kind I found to work was made with fabric. Because he heals so quickly, I hardly need to keep a band aid on for long. (I call him wolverine)
Does anyone else have any type of sensitive skin, and the adhesive that is used for the pump bothers you? What do you do? I could be getting ahead of myself but would like to have some options before Pump Day.
Thanks for your help.
