The instructions in the starter kit say to start with approx. 50% of your normal insulin dosage and work up. I found I still need 100% of my normal insulin dosage when I use it, but using a 50/50 combo bolus over 2 hours, YMMV. It really does help with the postprandial bg spikes.
Personally, I rarely use Symlin anymore since I found I can handle my bg just as well by eating lower carb meals and/or pre-bolusing. I've got a case of déjà vu... :s:

WOW,this stuff works,I was at 120 before supper, cut my bolus in half and took 3 units of symlin 2 hours atfter eating my bloodsugar is 80!!Heres the kicker I had 4 pieces of hand tossed pizza.Pizza usually makes BS go up and stay.

That just made me think of another Symlin question...what if you go low after taking Symlin...how would you treat that if it's slowing down the carbs?

That's one of the dangers of symlin. Therefore one has to take caution when using it to make sure they don't go low. Although, I would assume that by the time you test to detect the low the symlin has done it's thing so you shouldn't have to worry about it affecting the carbs taken say an hour or two later.

Another 15g treat the low just fine, takes care of it right away.

You'll never have to worry about treating a low, with or without Symlin, if you use glucose. Glucose does not go through the digestive track and is the fastest way to raise your bg, other than a glucagon injection. I always keep a roll of glucose tabs in my test kit, several bottles at home and another at work...
