Now I am getting back in shape the next big planned trip is up to Scotland to bag Ben Nevis.

We are planning the Trip for the December holidays before Chrstmas. Should be nice and cold and hopefully a good snow coverage. Been planning this for a while and its finally coming together. Can't wait.:D

Only another 283 Munros to bag after this one.

Its amazing out ther only 15 minute drive from where I live. The entire area was carved out from the rock during the ice age. I don't know what to tell you really ask me some questions. Been walking there for many years.

Thanks for the reply... would it be a good place to take 7 teens who are not used to hiking? what would the danger level be, in terms of them falling from great heights? Is it possible to do a good hike that would only be about an hour each way? Is there somewhere nearby the parents and younger family members could hang out while we did the hike (a picnic spot?) Also, is August a good month to do it..Phew! well you asked for questions lol...

August is proberbly the best month as the weather is at its best.

That walk is quite easy. But the cliffs run for 3 miles and are very high could be dangerous. And there really isnt anyhting near Stanage Edge at all.

About 2 miles down the road from there is a place called Derwent Valley. This would be ideal. plenty of easy walks, good paths, lots of wildlife and some good picknick areas.

Thanks Rich....I would love to go myself.. might have to leave the teens home..hahaha...thanks for the links, I think we will go to that area next year anyway...

Well as long as the teens don't try anything stupid like climbing the cliff it is quite safe at Stanage Edge and I often see families walking out there.

great! I think they are quite well behaved... but if I broke one of them, my sister would really really make me pay....tee hee...
