I have really disliked my endo I've had ever since I moved back to Alaska. He didn't listen to me and harped on me worse then my mother. Really made me miss my (till then) life long endo.
I just found out that a really great endo had moved to Anchorage a few years ago. Only issue is his first open appointment is for Feb. I made the appoitment but was disappointed in the wait.
I called my old endo, (nice to have his cell number) and explained to him what has been going on with me and if he knew of this Dr. Just so happens they DO know each other and he gave him a very HIGH reccomendation. Told me everything I needed to hear about this guy.
An hour later my cell rang. It was the new endo's office calling telling me to be there Wed morning at 10am.
I was like what the ****? What happened to Feb?? Someone made a call and said it was urgent I got in there quick!!
It's nice to have friends in high places ;)

My old endo was the best Dr I've ever had bar none. He always spent time with me and cared. We also became friends in the 25 some years I went to see him. We went to coffee together and he even used me in his diabetes research studies. David was a one in a million Dr
We need more Dr's like him

AWESOMNESS!! That's great Alaska!! :five:

I hear ya on having more good, caring docs! I LOVE my Endo too! I think he's pretty awesome, as does both my sisters! All three of us see him. Two of us for D and one for Graves Disease.

I'm pretty jazzed about getting in to see him. He actually came from the same town I was born and raised in. He also took care of my dad when he came down with diabetes after I had left town. My dad sure call me a lot after he got it.......lol
I'm gonna unload everything on this guy and see what we come up with. I'll be seeing a lot of doctors here the rest of the year I do believe.

I've had a couple of those "really good endo's" and a couple of "why do I punish myself like this endo's".

The good ones have really raised the standards for me.

I'm going to a new endo next month. I have to take a shot in the dark out of a zillion endo's in my area. Very scary. But, I will shop around, as I've learned to do. Personality is what works for me...they can be brilliant research people, but if they don't understand PMS...time to move on!

Now I didn't say HE does ..... I said AS does!! ;) LOL
Yes, I KNOW to watch what I say around you!! LOL

Now, that's even more awesome, he's a doc who already has a good record with someone else in your family! That's exactly how I found mine. My baby sis was going to him for her Graves Disease, then my other sis decided to go to him for her Diabetes, and I took her for her first appointment with him, and I really liked how he was with her. I liked how thorough he was with the exam and all. Then is when I decided to start seeing him too! I hadn't been to a doc in nearly a year at the time, [didn't like my old doc, and was having financial troubles, so really couldn't afford it ... no insurance]. My scripts were about to run out, and my BG's were on the rise, for no good reason, so I knew I needed to be seen by a doc. I had to save up for that initial appointment, and I had to wait two months to get in, but, it was worth it!! He's very kind, caring and thorough, as well as, he keeps it in the FRONT of his mind, that I don't have insurance, and does his very best to keep my expenses down as much as he possibly can! :)
