I suffer from seasonal hayfever, and before diabetes used to go for the annual shot to see me over the worst of it. Since D, I manage on (expensive) prescription pills, but this year the pills simply aren't coping.

So I guess my only alternative is the shots? Anybody have any advice? I know the steroids play havoc with bg levels. how should I manage the effects? I'm on Lantus & Apidra MDI.

thanks

Steroid shots will play havoc with your diabetes. Tablet form ie prednisolone the rule of thumb is 2 units of insulin to 1 mg pred.
Injections into joints you are talking of at least double and prob more for 10 days or more actual injections of steroid into the muscle that would depend on the type of steroid and how long acting it is.
Steroids are great as long as used wisely, but over use does lead to a lot more problems so do be careful.
Have you tried any of the homeopathic options? I don't mean over the counter stuff either go and see a homeopathic practioner it's amazing what they can do to help.
