Shortly after waking this morning I noticed black streaming in my left eye, the bad one. Poop!

I know it's probably not real serious as there's no neovascularization or edema, but it still sucks the life out of you :(

Unlike last year it's very fluid and constantly changing. One minute there's 5 streams and the next there's just scattered tiny dots. It's like a fancy snow-globe. I could watch it all day

Ah, all too familiar sorry to hear that John. I hope all is well. Try not to let it suck too much life out of you.

WELL NUTS!!!

John, I know you didn't want to deal with this. Maybe it will clear in a few weeks and nothing else will happen. Maybe all you need is a little zap in that one area.

I'll be thinking of you and hoping to hear good news.

Mich, patting you on the shoulder. (long arm)

Ahh! I know exactly what you mean. I had them so frequently that I fear opening my eyes in the morning, afraid one will be there. I've had a cold and my eyes have that errie ache feeling right now.

Your painting could be used in a therapists office...it would make me whince or scream or both. But it defininately describes those stringy floaters. And I definately "played" with them when I had them. (How strange I must have looked to my students...my eyes following something that they could not see)

I hope that it turns out to be nothing serious for you!

As far as I can tell it didn't last long and it didn't bleed much. The strings are all gone and there's a light haze left.

My optho's office, Dr. is away, had me go to ER so I could be referred to the optho on call. *sigh* A wasted effort as he says wait till The Grunter returns.

Is it gone yet?

Ever swat at a floater thinking it was a fly?

There was a little bit today. There's no streaking at all this evening, but it is a bit hazy. I tested 20/25 yesterday down from my normal 20/20.

X, glad to hear things are clearing up a bit. Whew, huh?

Robijo, I cracked up. I mistake my little pet floater for a gnat every now and then...:T

Finally saw The Grunter today.

He says my eyes look great and he can't find any bleeders. It was probably the of the fine ones on the edges. The one he treated six weeks ago looks good too. Nothing to worry about, but he want to check it again in two more months.

xMenace, i'm glad you are better.
But I have to tell you - and PLEASE, PLEASE don't get offended! - my first assiciation to "black streaming" was the alien-caused black liqud in the eyes, that we saw in the X-Files Movie, you know what I mean??
So, X, are you one of THEM or one of US????
:D
all best,
Srpkinja

I Hemmed in mid-August and had the Vit at the end of October. I don't think that one ever stopped bleeding. It's hard to tell when you are looking at life through a bowl of Minestrone soup ;)

I had a bad one about 3 weeks ago and it's not getting better but it's not getting any worse. The neat thing is that I think there is some blood pooled in the bottom of my eye because if I tip my head back it's like oil is running down my field of vision, kinda like the black ooze from X-files. Ah the fun of eye problems.

If I shake my head hard enough, I can see a Chrismas tree in all the goo ;)

I have a (stupid?) question ~ when you're eye's hemming or if you have floaters or some of the other weird things that happen to people's eyes ~ do other people see the blood and floaters when they're looking at you? Sounds like it would be scary to see! Black, streaming, alien-like blood.....!!!

No. The pupil is pitch black from the outside, at least mine are.

Oh good John!! According to the ETDRS you shouldn't have that good of vision!!! I love reading when diabetics shatter what we should be after a certain problem or "complication". God bless brother, and hope your eyes keep healing.
