Two days ago i tested and it said 200, then i tested a minute later and it gave me 130, wtf. then again yesterday i tested and it said 250, and tested 1 minute later and it gave me 190. what the heck is going on. I wonder how many times I have corrected when not necessary or not enough because of this ****.

That's actually pretty good for that neter. I think my records for errrors were like 270 when I was 70 and 50 when I was 200. Or something like that. I certainly wouldn't trust my life with it.

I've never had issues with mine. Is there a chance your hands were unclean?
Sanvita should have a new version soon: Nova Max™ . Home (http://novacares.com/home.html)
I've been using an Accu-Chek Aviva lately as a backup/test meter. It's good, but I prefer my BD one.

I like the Ultra2 or the Freestyle Lite.

I would never bolus based on a CGMS reading. Not until they are FDA approved for doing so. They are more useful for trending.
As far as meters go, I like the UltraSmart the most...

At this current time NOTHING but the BD meter that came with the pump will automatically link to it. You can still manually enter the readings from any meter though.
In about 3-4 months Lifescan will be coming out with the Ultra2 Link meter. But at this current time the current Ultra 2 does not link.

I stopped using the BD Link a few months into pumping because the readings differed 30-50 points from my One Touch Ultras.

Where did you see that it will be an Ultra 2-based meter? I don't know if I like that or not. My Ultra 2 is good, but I think I like the UltraSmart better. Oh well....as long as it can be downloaded....

I've had the same experience with my BD Link meter. I have 3 BG meters. Freestyle Lite (my current favorite) BD Link and Ascentia Breeze. I started using the BD Link when I got my Paradigm 722. At one point it gave me a reading that was so high I knew it was wrong. I tested the 3 meters with blood from the same site and found that the Freestyle Lite and Breeze were within 9 points of each other, and the BD Link was reading over 200 points high! I have repeated the test a few more times and the BD Link is always a fair amount away from the other two. I only use it to download my pump data.

I had nothing but problems with my BD link meters - I was given several and they all gave me wild readings. I use my Ultrasmart and just manually plug in my BG...the BD meter only gets used to upload data.

Last I counted I tried a dozen BD meters and had at least half as many various errors. Screen broke on one, one wouldn't power up no matter what, one kept giving an error message, erraneous readings galore.

When I changed over to the 722 my CDE told me to stick with my U2, because of how off the BD is.

The Minimed rep told me last week that it will be a U2 based meter. And it should become available to minimed pumpers my the first quarter of 2008

New Meter Option in 2008
Medtronic Diabetes is pleased to announce a new meter offering we anticipate will be available to U.S. customers in 2008. The meter will be built on LifeScan's OneTouch® meter platform – a trusted brand recommended by doctors, pharmacists and diabetes educators alike. The meter will be designed to wirelessly communicate to "smart" MiniMed Paradigm® insulin pumps and the Guardian® REAL-Time continuous glucose monitoring system. Wireless communication makes data entry easier and more convenient for Medtronic Diabetes customers.
The new meter will replace the Paradigm Link® Blood Glucose Monitor, which is being discontinued by Becton Dickinson. Additional product and distribution information will be available next year. Medtronic Diabetes anticipates no interruption in service during the transition of its blood glucose meter products.
FAQ
Can you tell me about the new meter? How can I get one?
Our new meter will be based on LifeScan's OneTouch meter platform and made available to U.S. customers sometime this Spring (2008). The new meter will be designed to transmit data wirelessly to "smart" MiniMed Paradigm insulin pumps and the Guardian REAL-Time continuous glucose monitoring system. Stay tuned to our website – it's the best way to learn about our product offerings as they become available.
What is a "smart" insulin pump?
"Smart" MiniMed Paradigm insulin pumps (models 512/712 and above) have a high level of intelligence – they make using pump therapy easier and more effective for patients. Our smart insulin pumps' Bolus Wizard® calculator recommends insulin dosages and keeps track of insulin that has been used by the body. Our smart pumps also use wireless communication, making data entry easier and more convenient.
As a current user of the Paradigm Link Blood Glucose Monitor (made by Becton Dickinson), how will my meter be replaced? Will there be any interruption in service or support?
Next year, when our new meter is available, we will notify existing customers of their option to choose our new glucose meter offering. We do not anticipate any interruption in service or support as we transition our glucose meter offering.
I like my current meter – the Paradigm Link Blood Glucose Monitor. Can I continue using it? How long will test strip supplies be available?
You can certainly continue to use your favorite meter – we always support a patient's decision to use the meter of their choice! BD has transferred its meter business to Sanvita, who will continue to warranty, service and provide test strips for the product. Feel free to contact Sanvita for details at 1-800-681-7390.
Will Medtronic Diabetes make the new meter available to new customers as well?
Yes! The new meter will be part of our product offerings. When available, customers who order a "smart" insulin pump or Guardian REAL-Time System will be shipped the new meter as well.
If I order today and receive a Paradigm Link Glucose Monitor, will I receive the new meter when it becomes available?
Yes! There is no need to wait on your insulin pump purchase. We will notify all current users of Paradigm Link Blood Glucose Monitors and make the new meter available to them.
I have questions about insurance and changing my paperwork over to the new meter.
Since our meter requires FDA approval, we have time to sort out those details. Stay tuned, we'll touch base with you when it gets closer to the launch date, or you can keep an eye on our website for more information.
I have additional questions about the new meter. Can Medtronic Diabetes provide me with more details?
Unfortunately, since this meter requires FDA approval, we aren't able to answer specific product or processing questions at this time. But stay tuned, we'll touch base with you when it gets closer to the launch date, or you can keep an eye on our website for more information.
