I love hot cocoa...always used to make it and give as gifts around the holidays...here's my s/f version...It causes me no problems blood sugar-wise, YMMV.

1/2 (9.6 ounce) box Instant nonfat dry milk powder
2/3 c + 1 tsp. SPLENDA from the box
1/3 c + 1 tsp. powdered creamer
1/3 c + 1 tsp. cocoa

Preparation
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, stirring well. Store in an airtight container.

Combine 1/4 cup Hot Cocoa Mix with 3/4 cup boiling water for an individual serving. Serve immediately

* For Peppermint-Flavored Hot Cocoa Mix, add 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies to Hot Cocoa Mix recipe. Serve with a peppermint stick.

*For mocha flavored Hot Cocoa Mix, add 2-3 tbsp. instant coffee to mix.

*For cinnamon flavor, add a few shakes of cinnamon to mix and add cinnamon stick to mug.

Only if you will bring and prepare those AMAZING-looking drinks!;)

I like to buy vintage/antique cups/saucers from flea markets or antique stores (or at least old-looking ones) and put a bag of cocoa mix in them, put a small doily between cup and saucer, tie the christmasy cellophane around it with a ribbon and a cinnamon stick and give as gifts to neighbors and co-workers....looks like you've really went to trouble. If you're doing a non-sugar-free version to give away, you can add mini chocolate chips to the mix...looks really pretty!

That's AWESOME. A good deal of my family is diabetic or suspected diabetic (I have an uncle that refuses to go to doctor for blood test, but anyway...) and this will make a Perfect gift on our family Christmas get-together Dec. 15.

The granulated/pourable kind. Sorry I didn't make it clear.

1/2 (9.6 ounce) box Instant nonfat dry milk powder

forgive me but this may be a silly question. i was trying to make this last night. but i have a big box of the dry milk. so i will have to manually measure this one out. does this mean 4.3 ounces of non fat dry milk?

Hi PrincessLinda,

I'm curious about that powdered creamer. Which one is it? Can you find on the label what's in it? I mean, maybe hydrogentated or partially hydrogenated something? Or sat. fat?

If not, I'll get it!

Thanks,
:)

I've used the "generic" brands as well as "Coffemate" and "Creamora." Not sure what's in it as far as "partially hydrogenated" goes...I just tried it, tested and had good 1 and 2 hr readings.
