In another thread (VT Meet & Ski (http://www.diabetesforums.com/forum/meet-and-greet/22385-vt-meet-and-ski.html)) we hatched the idea for this Tahoe meet & greet as well. I just started this thread to keep things organized.
Sooooo Tahoe...

Tahoe sounds great . . . . I just posted to the old thread.
Are spouses/sig others coming? And plenty of women?

I would soooo be there. I am two hours or less from Lake Tahoe. How could I not? My feet should be just fine by then.

As long as I don't have to drive through snow in Grant's Pass down I-5 I'm good. Shasta's roads are always clear. Since I now have a ton of advanced notice, I'll try and get my parents to come up there as well. (It'll be no problem for my dad, but mom's a teacher and she doesn't like bringing in subs if she doesn't have to.)

I'm very excited about this! I'll probably end up flying down, hopefully I can convince a friend or two to come with, but if not, I'll be just as happy meeting new people! :D
Sounds good to me. I miss Northern California (I lived there 30 years) and have family and friends in Tahoe, Sacramento and places in between. Hopefully just not at Christmas time. My husband wants to ski, is this a family trip?

Nobody's in charge. No rules. Just the way I like it! I'll stick my neck out here and suggest that we be inclusive in general. Bring 'em all I say - the more the merrier. Who would object to that?
I think it would be cool if we could take some runs down the mountain together - you know, blues, even greens. Not so much triple black diamonds. Maybe a little friendly competition would be fun, boarders vs. skiers, type 1's vs type 2's, east coast vs. west coast...
Christmas time is probably not good for many folks. Let me ask those that are more familiar - when is the best part of the season for snow/temps in Tahoe?

IIRC, January, February, and March are the best times to go. End of January or early February is good. For me to bring the family, the week in Feb. that has President's Day in it is great because the kids get that week off of school for "mid-winter break". The weekend of MLK Jr's birthday is good too, since that's when my and Troy's birthdays (the 14th) are... :D
However, I don't know that the conditions are the same there as they were the last I went there. We've been having weird weather in the northwest for the last few years. It's been snowing earlier than normal, and then it gets much warmer than normal, then goes back to snow again... don't know if it's doing that in the Sierra's as well.
Here's Heavenly Valley right now...

I'm there!
Now we need to figure out which resort.
Something to look forward too!
