Alright, (I bolded the question, so u can all skip to it if u don't feel like reading my saga)
so i'm sure we've all had these nights (i'm on the pump tho, so I dunno how normal this is for pumpers)
Woke up randomly @ 3 am and my blood sugar on the pump was 13.8 with two up arrows (I hadn't eaten anything since like 9 and when I tested @ 12 it was 10.9, I went to the washroom to get ready for bed and tested again and it was 10.0, I then took .5 units and went to sleep)
Now, I tested on my meter again (knowing the pump's 20 minutes behind) and it said 16.2, I entered the units and stuff into the pump and done, it was injecting me....
Needless to say, for the next 3.5 hours my blood decided to be resistant and rise from 16.2-23 and back down and up and down and up, roller coasting all over the place.
I kept checking on my meter (my fingers are throbbing) and I kept getting inaccuracies.
My question is... What meter do YOU find to be the most accurate?
Thanks!

I have only tried a few, but I prefer the OneTouch series. The BD and the Aviva didn't read me very accurately, but have worked fine for others. I'm currently using the UltraSmart.

Hi A,
I have used one touch ultra and currently using accu chek active for the reason that accu cek test strip cost half of one touch ultra. However, both read at about -3 to -5% compared to my lab test. I think the idea is to not test your glucose level (GL) too frequently unless you suspect you are going into hypo or hyper. Have you watched your carbs intake and spread them evenly throughout the days? It would also be helpful to let your body getting used to a dose of insulin for at least a week before adding or reducing the dose (unless the GL is going dangerously high or low). I check my GL about six times a day: 6.30 am (fasting), two hours after meals (breakfast, lunch and diner) and before and after my daily 30 min cardio and weight exercise. Hope this is helps.

I like my BD Minimed the best. I use an Aviva too, and that's very close to the BD. I'll probably try the new Sanvita in the new year. The Ascensia Contour is ok too, but it tends to waste too many strips due to errors.

But really, none of them are real accurate. They can all be 20% off.

i'm constantly testing my sugars, and i have the pump sensor too, so i just try to make sure it's callibrating and that i'm on track (meter wise), however with that being said, it's driving me nuts when i test cause my pump says '8.9' with two rising arrows and my meter says 6.9, then i'm like 'um which ones right?' so i retest my meter and it says '11.3', so it's just so up and down constantly.
i know they said something about a 20% variation but that seems ridiculously low compared to nt 2.5 and 4.3 a second later.
i'm also using one touch
