I know my numbers are high and I am working very hard to get them down and it is working.

My problem is I need to know if this is normal or do I need a new monitor.

I checked my bs first thing in the morning and it was 11 - 5 minutes later I checked it again and it was 8. This morning I checked and it was 9, less than 5 minutes later it was 11.

I did not eat or drink anything between tests.

Any advice?

Monitors can have a +/- 15% variance.

If you get an unexpected result, high or low, its best to retest. Otherwise, I only test once per stick.

Were your hands clean? When I get an unexpected test result, it is normally caused by something on my hands.

I've noticed that cold (it's winter in Vermont) has a dramatic effect on readings. Wash with warm water before testing and make sure your meter and test strips are not cold.

Find/borrow another meter and test with both. Last week I got a FREE Freestyle Freedom glucometer from Craigslist, the exact model that I already had. The nice lady who had GD even dropped it off for me!
