Hi Everyone,
This might sound odd but do any of you have a lower body temperature than normal???
My doctor says it is because of my Diabetes but he has never given me a reason why. I don't think it is because of the D but I don't know. I have a constant body temp of around 97.1-97.6
Any of you have this problem?
Any know of Diabetes casuing low body temp?
Thanks,
Jack

Is it a problem?
After working outside all day in the Winter mine was always at least a degree lower. Asked the nurse one day why, and she told me it was normal after being out in the cold all day. That was before D, and not seen any difference since getting D.

No, not really. It's is hard to get a reading when I have a fever. Because even when I have fever like symptoms, it will never pass 97.6. Just something I was interested in figuring out.
I appreciate the input!!

My normal body temp is 96.4. I have one child who is like me, the rest are like my hubby, who is always around 99.6.
I don't think it's because of D, since my hubby is T2. Our theory is that it's where we're from... He's from New Mexico and I'm from California (however, I'm first generation as both of my parents are from North Dakota and Minnesota). I have a lower temp because of the colder climate where my parents are from, he's warmer because of the desert he's from. Who knows if this is true or not, it's just our theory.

...is just an average. People fall in a range plus or minus a few degrees. It is important to know what your 'normal' is though so you know when it's not! No worries.

Hi,
My "normal" is about 97.5, and I have an aunt who is the same. Nothing to do with diabetes.

My temp has always been low, even before the diabetes. I don't think of it as a problem, just take that into consideration when I have a fever.

Another low person. I normally register about 97.5 also.

Me too. My normal is always the low 97 range all my life before the D got me. Same for all the women in my family- and I am the only Diabetic. I dont think it has anything to do with the Diabetes, your body just runs a little cooler than the average. But good to know since a 99.5 is a fever for me, when many Drs may dismiss it as nothing.
never actually taken my temp to see, but I suffer from feeling cold all the time.. had millions of thyroid tests etc.. all normal, but I am nearly always cold, esp my hands.. I have Reynauds bad, but also just have cold hands, esp after I eat.. I wear fleece at some point almost every day of the year.. Winter is a bit of a nightmare for me.. thank god fleece was invented!

My temp is generally low too. About 97.4. Don't think it is caused by the D though.
