okay we finally had our cold snap this last week or so, my body is asking for more food to keep warm with so i of course oblige with more carbs. i do carb count but for some reason i just cant seem to stop my pp Bg's going higher when ive eaten more carbs than usual. especially in the afternoon and evenings. some bedtime readings have been 9-10 / 162-180. so im going to bed with correction insulin on board.
i was so chuffed with my new improved A1c of 5.7 lately, and dont want to spoil a good run.
anyone else getting this?
Yep, every year about this time. Long about Thanksgiving I realize what's happening and by Christmas am back on the high road.
Going to bed with correction insulin on board makes it hard for me to sleep. I want to get up and run around the block.

Meh, Sharon I have the same idea that feeling sad makes the BG rise and we just not satisfied on just any level BG that we would like to be so some give or take.
It's a stab in the dark to say OK I am going to have a pizza tonight and to have a dual wave bolus. and I love pizza but then this is as we all know it's the pits for guessing how to bolus correctly AUGHH!!!!!

Just covering the extra carbs is not enough. When it gets cold, the basal insulin requirement increases. Your body has to work harder to keep itself warm between meals too. ;)

current basal rates are
9am to 6pm ~ 0.4u/h
6pm to 9am ~ 0.5u/h
I:C ratios
breakfast 1:15
lunch 1:15
dinner 1:10
last night i ate 75 g carbs and bolused using I:C of 1:8, Bg was still 12.9/232 two hours later.
with being busy at work (in a shop) i cant fast for basal testing during the day to see what the problem is.
should i try a 10% increase and see how it goes?

Been running high too, but I assume it's because I'm off work for a couple of weeks laying around doing squat and snacking too much. Been real cold this fall, and my numbers have been good. I'm upping my basals by 10% today.

Gee no wonder that my fasting BG's are good. :D

Like Bluesky said, you eat more so more insulin unless you walk a mile. :D So get those walking shoes on or go dancing like I did 30 years ago. :)

Sounds like a good idea. And when you get a chance, do a basal test. If I was using a pump I would have a winter basal profile, which would probably be about 20% higher than the summer basal profile.
