Hi all, I just thought I'd let you know about the night I had at work tonight. I work in a large hospital as an x-ray tech. We had an unusually slow night and I only had to take radiographs on two people in the ER. Both happened to be diabetic! I noticed one was because when I went to position her, I could feel her pump. Needless to say, I just had to ask her about it. I then when on to tell her about my pump and we had a nice little convo for a while
The second girl was 18 y/o and newly diagnosed. She came in with a blood sugar in the 500's and was spilling ketones. The ER nurse said she had been that way for six weeks.:( I think she was in a phase of denile. I went on to tell her about my pump too (she was on MDI). She liked the idea of a pump, but I don't now how much she heard. I think the ketones were going to her head.
Anyway, I just thought this was pretty cool, and wanted to tell you guys about it.:)
