I just got my lab report today in the mail and I got some good and bad news. :) and :(

Let's start with the good. :D Most my tests came back normal....such as:
Cholesterol:171 (normalunder 200)
HDL:83 (normal over 40)
Chol/HDL Ratio 2.1 (normalunder 4.4)
Triglycrides: 72 (normal under 150)
LDL: 74 (normal under 130)

CBC: everything came back normal (too long for me to list:p )

ESR:5 (normal 0-20)

Glucose: (fasting) 103

Urea Nitrogen---------------------all of the following normal
Creatinine
BUN/creatinine ratio
Sodium
Potassium
Chloride
Carbon Dioxide
Calcium
Alkaline Phosphatase
AST
ALT
Albumin
Globulin
A/G Ratio

TSH: 1.18 normal ranges .4 to 5.5

OK.......the bad news......my A1c.........was bad................8.1
I knew it wouldn't be good with all the problems I have been having lately, but I was hoping for being somewhere in the 7 range. It's worse than I thought :( I am going to try and not think of it like I failed, I am going to try to think of it differently... that there is room for improvement and I just need to work a little harder.

Thanks for bearing w/ me through this post. Just wanted to let you all know how things turned out.

Hi! Wow- do you have any blood left in your veins? How many vials did they draw? :D

Anyway, concentrate on the good stuff. Obviously you need to keep working at it, but it could be WAY worse! You've just got some weird stuff going on right now. I had the same thing happen, except the opposite: chronic, dangerous lows. Keep trying, either you'll find the cause and correct it, or it'll go away on it's own.

You've got some great results, so forgive yourself and give yourself a pat on the back!

Heather,

Thanks so much for your support, it is MUCH appreciated :)

Yeah, I know I need to be more positve about things, I tend to be a bit of a pessimist .

I had to go to the lab for my tests and they took like 4 vials of blood. Actually, it wasn't that bad, the technician who took the blood was very good. It was so quick that I don't even thing I felt it. I always get a little nervous before going to the lab, but usually it's no big deal.

Yes, I am glad that most of the tests came back just fine, but I was mostly concerned with that darned A1c. I know I have my work cut out for me, and I am going to make every effort to improve things. My levels are better being back on injections and I think I am going to stick with this at least until my next A1c, I know I need to get my numbers down. From there, I'll have to decide whether I want to put the pump back on or not. I guess i'll make that decision when I get to that point. For right now I need to concentrate on regaining control.

Anyway, thanks so much again for your response and I'll let you know how things go.

With the exception of your A1c Andrea, those numbers are FANTASTIC  Go easy on yourself; you've been having a tough time of it lately and you're entitled to a number that's not 'perfect'.

I'm sure that in time you'll be telling us that your BG's are back under control and posting an optimal A1c result. Don't give up!

Thank-you, Shy...I am definitely trying to get things back where they should be. Thanks for your encouragement. :) I certainly hope the next time I post my A1c it is a much better number, one I don't feel embarrassed about posting.

Thanks so much again! :)

Wish I could get my LDL down below 74. It used to be there without the use of drugs (I don't consider moonshine a drug) but not any more.

Holy Crikey, Batman!!

I'd trade with you in a second.

Keeping in mind that according to all my Drs. I exercise more than enough, eat very well, and do all they believe to be the right things:We'll, I have hung out with Kat, Shy, Belinda, and Jenny in the Chat Room, but other than that I've been "Real Good"

Cholesterol:171 (normalunder 200) Never been under 250 in my life

HDL:83 (normal over 40) range between 32 and 38

Triglycrides: 72 (normal under 150) Been under 200 ONCE, only once

LDL: 74 (normal under 130) have only been below 150 twice

My last A1c was 5.7

Ya wanna Trade?
