medic alert-insulin?

I have had a Medic Alert bracelet before and stopped wearing it when it got hard to read. Now that I take Lantus at bedtime, I am going to get a new one and renew my membership. Should I say on insulin even though I am not Type 1 and don't depend on it for my life? At my Dr. appt. Thursday, he said his first reaction to my higher post prand numbers was to correct them but he was going to take a deep breath and wait a month or so to see if they will come down a bit with the carb counting and exercise. He is also going to do a A1c in a month (that will be 2 months since Lantus start). So I might be starting multiple shots sometime in the near future. Would you put "ON INSULIN" on the bracelet in these circumstances? Thanks:confused:

just a thought....do you need to wear the bracelet for other reason than the diabetes?

if not, why not consider one of the silicone bracelets (http://www.diabetesforums.com/forum/introductions-and-announcements/18635-diabetes-wrist-bands.html)tony has for sale right here on Df? it simply says "diabetic" another source for them is here (http://www.coolmedid.com/diabetes/)

that may be enough info for any medic team if you run into trouble....just for now until you get the meds side balanced ;)

Anyone on insulin, regardless of what type of diabetes, should have it listed on your ID bracelet.

I agree with Peggy. Lows can cause odd behavior and having it on your id bracelet will alert medics to the cause and treatment if need be.

Yes I have other problems. 5 cardiac artery stents(all in same artery) hypertensive, allergic to penacilin and benedryl.

I agree with Peggy and it should be a quality bracelet with that medic snake symbol on it. As for what to put on it, hmmm, since you are allergic to certain meds that would be vital as well. Let me see if I can find one a co-worker of my has while she's camping. I'll search and post back.

shabbie, Tony's bracelets are great, but not something I would take a light to in a medical situation. Gosh, think of all the ones with the Lance Armstrong bracelets.
