Why does your ISF (BG:I) ratio decrease when your bg rises?
I find the higher my bg is, the more insulin it takes to bring it down. It can be very frustrating...

I actually wonder if this is something MM has proven to be correct, however, correct to a point that they go to far at.
I learned once from a MM rep that the reason they slow their pump infusions down so much is because if it "bubbles" too much that the insulin actually deteriorates before it's used. This is why they give their boluses over a greater period of time.
I wonder if with you (and others with Animas pumps) the reason they need more insulin is because the insulin is taking too long to be absorbed and more insulin is needed.
I guess I'd have to see if maybe you took the same ISF you take at 180 as you would at 280 over a combo bolus would work or not.

I don't think this has anything to do with absorption issues. There is a medical reason for why this occurs. In fact, the latest Cozmo pump allows a variable ISF based on your bg reading.

Ask yourself why your BGs are high in the first place. Is it due to a calculation error or to increased insulin resistance such as an evil liver, stronger than normal dp, or slovenly behavior? I find very often it's the later and therefore I require more insulin.

I have read (and was told when Aaron was first in hospital) that high BG actually increases insulin resistance. That certainly matches our experience.
It can be **** hard to budge those numbers when he's high. Then, as they finally start to come down, we have to watch for a plummet. The lower he goes, the more sensitive he is to the insulin in his system.
