What do you all think?

In order to join the Biggest Loser Club diet, they ask if you are T1 Diabetic. If you answer yes, they pop up with a box, saying they don't have a program set up for T1s. Yeah, yeah, I know that we are supposed to have our doctors monitor every diet we ever do, but seriously...aren't most of us pretty educated anyways. Doesn't seem fair...what do you all think?

It's called CYA. They have to protect themselves in case some poor soul dies and sues them for negligence

Yes...but...

I'd have a very tough time regulating my glucose with that rigorous exercise (too extreme?) that they showed last year. I could have maybe handled the aluminum can relay...but that drill where they had to run down one valley and up a ridge, then back with a pole...yikes...I'd either be at 30 or 300...

I enjoyed the show from my sofa...and felt inspired to get out and walk my 3 miles...that was about it.

Too extreme (and too much drama) for me...it's strictly entertainment.

The results are certainly dramatic, aren't they?

The results are incredible! I LOVE THAT SHOW!!....and as an overweight person myself, I can't for the life of me figure out how some of these 300-400 lb people can do this much intense exercise without dropping over dead!

I'd love to see a 5 and 10 year f/u to see how many of them continue with the healthy lifestyles and maintain their weight.

I also enjoyed watching the Shaquil O'Neal series last year...for grade school children in S. Florida. It hit home about the poor nutrition, lack of exercise and lack of educational support in schools.

The show The Biggest Loser is so good, it has become the one show during the season that my entire family sits down for. Of course there are other times that we do things as a family, but the only time we ever sit down to watch TV as a family is for The Biggest Loser.

I can understand why they would exclude T1s. Having said that, I don't think it's fair that they do. In fact, I wouldn't see it any more dangerous to a T1 than it would be to anyone else. Overweight is overweight, and they should have doctors monitoring everything anyway.

Mmmm ... T1s can lose weight by reducing their insulin. It wouldn't be fair on the other contestants. :(

Thats true BlueSky,
My sister was telling me she was watching a tv show about teenage girls with "diabolemia". I think that's what she called it anyway. But it was about these diabetic girls who just quit taking their insulin to lose weight. Other girls at school were actually jealous that these diabetic girls could eat as much as they wanted and still lose weight (although im sure they didn't know what their friends were doing to their bodies).

Pretty sad.
