I've had a number of above-200 readings the past few weeks, with the holidays and parties and all, and my head has been feeling funny the past few days, like how I felt after I was diagnosed. Not dizzy, not a headache, not really vertigo either; I don't really know how to describe it, sort of like after you've been on a boat for a long time and you get off and you still feel like you're floating; just kind of lightheaded. My right eye has been bugging me more too, which it often does when I go high.
Does anybody else get weird feelings like this after having a lot of highs?
I have a Dr appt on Wednesday (finally); hope everything's OK.

When did you last have an A1c done?
Yes, highs make me feel really odd. Getting a lot of them at the moment and the walking weird is amongst you!
Dont worry, just get your numbers back under control and you will feel ok again.
Heather.

I haven't had one yet because I didn't have insurance. :(
I know; it took a really long time after I was diagnosed to start feeling normal again, like a good couple of months.

Were you previously honeymooning? If so then it may be over and you might, and I do mean MIGHT, need to increase your insulin intake. Discuss this with your Dr. see what he/she says.

I get the floating feeling in my head when I'm running too low or too high, I also get it when my sinuses act up which is annoying since I never know what the root cause is unless I test. For me though it is a short term thing when blood sugar is the culprit, once my levels return to a normal range I feel fine again.

Sometimes I get that way too and most the time my readings are normal.

How frustrating. It's such a weird, surreal feeling.
I used to feel like that when my insulin kicked in about 15mins after a meal, and back to normal at 3 hrs.. now just have occasional bouts of it.. hard to describe except for a bit unreal or as if I am in a play or something.. normalish bgs mostly, so sure it's another effect of the insulin or it's action...
Surreal is a good adjective for it...

I get it just after each meal lasting till about 3 hrs after the meal too. I always assumed it's the food i'm eating that causes that spaced out kinda feeling. Never accured to me it might be caused by the unsulin...
Soso do you know how you got rid of that feeling?

Kind of like your equilibrium's just a bit off? Yeah, I've had that feeling after a larger than normal meal or when I get up in the morning occasionally. When the insulin kicks in is a harder to describe feeling for me. My sinuses feel like a powerful decongestant is kicking in, but there's no congestion to clear up. Makes my whole head feel a little funny - not much and not every time, but it's enough to notice when it does.

Yeah i've noticed the spaced out feeling is much worse after a larger meal, especially after a 'rich' meal. After a small and simple meal my head stays a lot clearer. I also get it in the mornings when i've had a lot to eat the day before. I feel so much better when i don't eat much. Weird, i know...

Me too, during allergy season I'm a mess.

i was BORN weird!!!
oh and i do get the 'just off a boat' senstion, but usually if im feeling a bit stressed/worked up
Wow I never thought so many people were in the same boat as me!
I've tried everything, lower carb diets, more exercise, vitamins, going gluten free... of all those things, gluten free made a great difference but I still get the weirdness every now and then so i don't think I can totally blame gluten.
I wonder what's going on with us... or is this what everyone everywhere experiences?!
