do you become a Veteran with D?

We should think of a completely random ranking system.

Like, are you a vet after 20 years? Perhaps 25 years is better.

Alright, I'll start.

A veteran is 25 years plus.

What's next down the line? When do you stop being a noob?

Stop being a noob at 2 years in my opinion. I like veteran at 25. Experienced at 10.

This is starting to sound like the government. :P Do you get a prize after 10 years, and 25? :D

I feel like a "noob" all the time...even after 42 years. So maybe I'll say "50 years".

I've had to "re-tool" when each new insulin has come out. "Re-tool" when the A1C theories were accepted and became universal. "Re-tool" when I went on Lantus and Humalog.

I would have to "re-tool" if I ever decided to change from MDI to a pump.

I think we are always learning...I'm "re-tooling" even just after joining this forum on a few things...

Alice, I consider you a pro & a veteran.

When I joined DF, I thought I knew a lot; was I ever wrong. I'm so happy that I didn't know as much as I thought I did!

Jan B, that's very sweet of you...I think sometimes the whole thing is so "overwhelming" that it just takes a few years to sort things out. When you (or your parents) figure out that the sky isn't going to fall in suddenly...it gives you time to get your life back...then learning becomes fun again.

When setbacks do occur (eyes, feet, whatever...) this forum helps us all feel more informed...which lessens the "noob" feeling. Some of my questions get shot down in the doctors office...end of discussion. Here, the answers get discussed, different views and you can find the "groove" where you are comfortable.
