After I thought I was finally on the road to recovery (see my previous threads) I wound up in the intensive care unit four days with chest pains. After numerous tests - EKG, CT, stress test, blood tests, etc. the doctors said that my heart was fine. Here's my problem: if I touch my chest where my heart is, I have a pain on the outside of my chest. Also, if I lift my left arm up when I am reaching for something the area around my heart hurts. The pain is like when you pull a muscle. It is not a sharp pain. Has anyone experienced the same thing or something similar?

Mark,
Yes -- once many years ago, I had a fit with a phone, slamming it into little bits (in a downward motion). It was actually good therapy, until I woke the next morning scared of my chest pain. Turns out my doctor and I had a good laugh -- I had bruised myself during the killing of the phone!
Not saying you would pull such a stunt . . . but could it give you any ideas?!

Thanks for the good laugh.:hahaha: Apparently, I bruised a muscle and I will just have to be patient. Should this be my biggest problem in life.

Mark, I have had "costochondritis" a few times and it sounds like what you are experiencing.
Check out the information below:
Costochondritis (http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/sprainsstrains/a/costochondritis.htm)
I type a lot and sometimes if I overdo the computer work, this will happen. Takes a few days to resolve, and I probably get it 1-2 times a year.
Hope you're feeling better soon!
