Howdy !
My name is Mike, I'm 38 y.o. and I live in Munich, Germany. I was raised in San Antonio, TX. I'm married and work for the Munich Police Department. I travel alot, back home to the US and elswhere in Europe, ride a BMW motorcycle and love American cars (own a 2005 Mustang GT).
I was dx'd with Type 1 diabetes in 1970. I was on CT until 1990, then switched to ICT and now have a pump (Deltec Cozmo) since last year.
I found this forum while looking for infomation/help on the Cozmo/Cozmonitor system.
Looking forward to meeting ya'll online !

Hi Mike,
Welcome to this forum -- I'm sure you'll get a lot out of it. My problem with it, is I tend to spend too much time here . . . I need to get back to work!
You have good company here -- there are others in law enforcement and others who were diagnosed as little children or babies. I look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi Jan ! Thanks, good to see somebody from TX. here.
I need to get back to work too, 3.30pm over here, your tax dollars at work (well, more like our tax euros at work... LOL).
I'm curious about other LEO's with T1 and other longtimes. Hopefully I find some help from other Cozmo pumpers too. ;)

Willkommen Mike!
Welcome to the forum. Im new here too. When my ex-husband was in the Service he was a medic at the Army Hopsital in Nuremberg. We lived there 2 years and loved every minute of it, mind you this was way back in the 1970s. Every Christmas I miss the Christkindl Market that we saw there, complete with the hot mulled wine too. Oh and miss the beerfests, too. ha!
I see you work with the Polizei. I often say to people if the police here in the states had the same freedom to do their duty as the polizei in Germany do, there would be less crime here!
Auf Wiedersehen!

@Karen. Thanks ! Good to be here !
@notme. Thanks ! Wow, 21 years already. A longtimer like me ! When selecting my pump I looked at Minimed too, but chose the Cozmo because they told me there is a attachable meter available (Cozmonitor). Now I have the pump and the mfgr. (Smiths Medical) tells me that the Cozmonitor is not available in Europe because they didn't think about getting the technical approval for Europe first.
@Cyborg. Thanks ! :hello:
@Suzie: Danke ! Nueremberg is nice, it's only 100 mls north of Munich, so we drive up there for the christmas market every year. Your ex was an Army medic ? These guys are good ! Unfortunately there is no US military left in Nuremberg. They closed the bases in 1993. Grafenwöhr is still there (joint training command), so is Hohenfels, Bamberg and Vilseck (1st Infantry will pull out completely, they replace them with a Stryker Brigade).
Yes, working for the Bavarian State Police sure has moments. Sometimes I have officers from the States for a visit, they really like what we do. I fly back to the US at least once a year to see my family, hook up with other cops or see old Army buddies. :D
Auf Wiedersehen, hab einen schönen Tag ! (do you still understand some German ?) ;)

Welcome Mike.
I am using a minimed 715 & hoping to upgrade to the 722. Love my pump.
Curious - what took you to Munich. I still have my subway map from when I was there in 2002. Loved the walled city and old ornate buildings - felt very safe to walk around every night I was there. Looking to go back sometime when work will pay for the plane ride!

Hey Mike !
I looked at the Minimeds as well. They looked good to me, but I wanted the Cozmo because of the Cozmonitor meter (that I don't get now... ).
What took me to Munich ? My mother ! LOL. She's German, and when she got a divorce from the old man we returned to Germany (I was a minor back then and didn't have a choice). I'm a military brat, my dad was in the Army stationed in Germany when he met my mother. When he came back from Vietnam in 1970 we relocated to the US.
