First of all Welcome. and yes these disease can suck, but life can be great with it. Even though I have to constantly check this disease and keep it under control, I have alot to be thankful for in my life. I keep those things at fore front other wise I will go completely and totally nuts.
Try and keep the good things in your life out front and the diabetes seems better. I know that sounds corny but it helps get me through and my sons smiling faces.
Have any questions, complaints, ideas etc. please pass them on. This is a great place to get information and help.

Welcome to the best place for support and advice. Diabetes does suck but now that you have it and you have past experience with it (sorry to hear about your dad) you can control it

I think we are all in agreement that no one really wants this disease, but that's besides the point. The point is that we have it and are stuck with it, no matter what. This means we have to take ALL the steps neccessary in trying to control it, such as watching diet, frequent testing/injections, exercise, and many other factors or face the consequences later on.
Yeah, it sucks (believe me, I know that), but we don't have any other choice but to deal with it the best we can. I have had a lot of problems recently, and it was very difficult for me to try to control it, and it did affected me not only physically but also emotionally. I am doing better now, but I know that that will not be the end of my problems with this disease. Most likely we will have ups and downs managing it , but I think the more you educate yourself about it and do everything possible you can to take care of yourself, the better off you will be. Having your health is so important, I think it's important to realize that it should not be jeopardized in any way.

Malachy,
You have come to the right place. Along with the others, I agree diabetes isn't all pleasure and does suck, sometimes. Although, we as diabetics are fortunate these days. It is much better now than it was in the past. We have some members who have been effectively managing diabetes for many years. That is the one positive about diabetes: It can be managed. If you absolutely have to have a disease, diabetes is one of the better ones.
Besides, our membership almost makes it fun!

Malachy, my condolences to you about your father, whenever it was. Diabetes does suck, but since i found out i had it i have made very dramatic changes to my lifestyle, and strangely enough my life is even better than before. I know not everyone will be the same as me, but i was drinking heaps of alcohol and eating all sorts of garbage b4 i found out about D.
For me it has made me wake up and value my life, and treat my body with respect.
Anyway, here IS great, and i hope to see you around. :)

Hi Malachy. Yeah it sucks but at least it is treatable. That's my take on it. Welcome to the family.
