Hello all! I just joined today and am very excited about becomming a part of "this world"! I am a Type 2 diabetic -- my story is quite l-o-n-g, but I'll give you the very abridged version. In 1984 I was diagnosed as a Type 1 and lived that way for 7 years. During those years, my BGs were never on target and I succomed to 2 comas and many, many hypos. Then in 1991 I was told I 'did not' have diabetes at all! WHAT?!?! So for the next 15 years I lived diabetes and medication free. In October of 2006 I was having the signs of diabetes again, so I went to get checked-out and tested to see what was going on. The tests came back...and yep...I had diabetes (again). My Endo. and I think it is because my pancreas is just "getting tired" because of all the earlier trauma I went through. Oh well, that's my story.

I am now pursuing my PhD in Public Health and my topic of interest -- can you guess?! -- is diabetes! My dissertation topic is on how stress affects different diabetic personalities. If anyone has anything to offer, please either add to this post or e-mail me.

Thanks; look forward to hearing from you!

Craige:

Welcome to the forums. I'm relatively new here myself, but I can tell you there is a lot of experience to be found here. Good luck on your degree!
