I was just curious to see how many of you that were diagnosed with diabetes have celiac disease or have even ever been tested for it given your diabetic status?

I've been tested for celiac but I am not. I am t1 diabetic. My Daughter (2)and nephew (8) are celiac. My daughter was just diagnosed. I also have a niece (9)who has Cystic Fibrosis.

I haven't been tested, but I suspect at the very least a gluten intolerance. Apparently it's quite common for T1 diabetics to also have celiac. So far I dont feel the need to do the testing - if I can see the issue myself and deal with it then why bother.

I've been 99% gluten free for the last two weeks, and all of a sudden I don't have sinus trouble, don't feel so grumpy, and I'm not all puffed up from retaining water. WOOHOO!

Since I mostly gave up bread already, except my one piece of toast for brekkie, the transition has been fairly easy. Sorta. Well it'll always be annoying! However if I was to be really honest I'd tell you that I've been trying to go gluten free for well over a year now lol. Success now.. finally :)

It's a pain having to stay away from foods that most of the population consider staples, eh! Gluten is *everywhere*, or so it seems, espcially when you're not having it.

I agree it can be very hard to stay away from gluten whats even harder is the potato chips and soda do not contain gluten and for a quick snack it can be difficult to stay away from them when your not use to it .... ugh My Daughter she loved the fritos corn chips though!!
