Got my result back today when I visited the doc.

HbA1c: 6.6%

Serum Creatinine: 71 umol/L

eGFR> 90 ml/min/1.73m^2

Total Cholesterol: 5.0 mmol/L

Sodium 143 mmol/L

Potassium: 3.8 mmol/L

Urea: 2.80mmol/L

Serum Trigyycerides: 0.8 mmol/L

Serum HDL: 1.10 mmol/L

Chol/HDL Ratio: 4.5

Albumin Concentration: 4.5 mg/L

Alumbin/Creatinine Ratio: 0.30 mg/mmol

My blood pressure was also high when I had these bloodworks

done, but have been testing myself at home everyday for the

last four weeks and the doc says that the results are perfect.

Another good six months under my belt which suprised me

really because being ill with nausea for so long and not really

eating properly.

No need to go back to the hospital diabetes clinic for another

6 months. I just have to get my eyes photographed at the

local optomologist.

oh yes, also I am finally getting the SoloStar pens for Lantus

and Apidra. Saw my pharmacist this afternoon and he

ordered two boxes from his supplier whilst I was waiting for

my prescription. The docs office computer still hasn't

updated. The new pens will be delivered to the pharmacy

tomorrow morning. YeeeeeeHaaaaaw

Not bad results. The cholesterol looks a little high (fasting it should be <4.0 mmol/l). It's interesting they didn't break it down into HDL and LDL. That can be handy to know.

I agree, good numbers. The cholesterol and A1c could be a bit lower, but other than that good job. I think you'll like the SoloStar. I actually prefer the SoloStar over the FlexPen from Novo. It's easier to depress and is much more fluid than the FlexPen (although the FlexPen is still a nice thing to have).

HDL and LDL? Not sure mate. Don't really take much notice been having these tests since 1979. Either way any decision concerning those result would down to the clinic. And I don't really start arguing with the Professor of Diabetes Medicine. lol
If it puts a smile on his face I'm happy. Still don't trust any of them with my life though. I got to where I am today thru my own hard work and have never received any help.
Not bad after 29 years.

Rich:

If you check back they should be able to give you the LDL. That's one of the key CHD risk indicators (the others are HDL, LDL/HDL ratio and triglycerides. Recommendations are <2.5 for T1's. LDL/HDL <3 for T1's.

Total cholesterol is less informative and goes back to the days before tests that could distinguish between different types. The problem with total Cholesterol is that it adds up LDL (bad) and HDL (good). You wouldn't expect your bank statement to add together debits and credits willy nilly.

Glad to hear you finally got the pens.
