I was wondering if other Diabetics always drink 'diet' products when they go out drinking? I used to always drink vodka and diet coke but i had a food intolerance test done last week and i'm not allowed artificial sweeteners anymore. I could drink wine but that gets me very drunk too quickly. But if i'd drink normal coke or fruitjuice with my vodka i'd have to keep injecting. Any tips?
Thanx :)
I used to, but this was in a time when i wasnt watchin how it affected my sugars!
THese days I stick to wine or light beer if there are no sugar options available..
Perhaps you could use a fruit juice half a glass and top up with soda water??

You could switch to Scotch or Bourbon on the rocks and maybe with some water. IMO, mixers ruin the taste of these drinks anyway. ;)

I rarely drink, I have other vices ;), but love captain morgan and DIET pepsi. I always make sure the bar keep presses the d button!

Not really fond of sodas so my preferred drink of Canadian Whiskey is a double with a splash of 7UP. A splash just takes the edge off and I don't want to taste the 7UP.
BTW See you figured it out.

Ginger Ale has 75% of the carbs of Coke. I love Black Rum and Ginger, a Dark & Stormy

Try low carb beer about 2.5 carbs
When I was younger, I'd drink vodka and cranberry or orange juice. I'd just ignore the high I'd get (i figured I was safe from going low) when I was out and about, and do a correction shot before bed. (1/2 of my normal correction b/c otherwise I'd end up low)
Now I avoid the hard stuff altogether and just drink wine and beer.
club soda (seltzer) has 0g carbs, vodka seltzer and just a tiny splash of another juice for color and flavor is a very good drink. or skip the juice and have a slice of citrus added.

wine spritzers? Equal parts wine and soda water, and you can drink more volume but get drunk slower.

You could alternate club soda and wine so that the wine lasts longer. I'm sure the bar could supply a lime or lemon wedge for the club soda or maybe even a cherry! Love to try tying the stems with my tongue. Great conversation piece (or used to be...)

I'll usually have low carb beer (Mich Ultra) or a flavored Vodka on the rocks...

I recently switched from gin and (diet) tonic to Capt Morgans and Diet, but I think Capt Morgan's by itself would still be pretty good if one can't drink diet...

I have changed from Vodka and slimeline tonic to Vodka, soda and a squeeze of fresh lime. i don't have to inject for it and it tastes alot fresher and less sweet.
