Testing

How many times a day do you test your bg? My doctor has told me, today, to stick to around 6 times a day. I have been on a pump since september but I still like to test often.

I test anywhere from 10 to 16 times a day. Usually I stick to around 10 times a day. Fasting, before and after breakfast, lunch and dinner, before and after snack, and bedtime. I forget before snack (twice a day) since it's usually low enough in carbs that I don't bolus for it though. My pump reminds me to test 2 hours after bolusing, so that's a great reminder.

I also will test whenever I feel low, and lately that's added about 4 tests a day for me. (I joined Weight Watchers and my insulin requirements have gone way down.)

But that's just anal me. :)

Six would be very little for me...but I'm a nibbler/grazer...not a big meal eater...I always test before and after eating.

I also test before driving several times a day.

I test a minimum of 8 times a day, and depending on how I'm feeling that day (high, low, sick, etc), I can test upwards to 12 or more times a day.
