CNN just posted this link:
Weighing nearly 400 pounds, man walks off half his weight - CNN.com (http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/diet.fitness/02/01/weightloss.phill.novak/index.html)
Good story with a good outcome.

What a great story! Once again it reiterates what many of us need to hear...even baby steps add up. I'm sure this man was only able to walk a few steps at first, but he perservered, with incredible results. Thanks for sharing such an encouraging story!

I just started wearing a pedometer...it's fun to see how many steps you total each day...even a trip to the mall really adds up! I try to walk a minimum of 10,000 steps on slow days...but like to hit 13,000-15,000...
My Weight Watchers group is big into this...so see, you learn a gimmick every day, right?
One tip, if anyone decides to rush out and get a pedometer...the model I have needs to be pointed perpendicular to the floor. For some reason, it doesn't count correctly on my waistband...so I clip to my bra! Seem to work fine...Oh well...

Alice..........I wore a pedometer for almost 3 years straight. When it broke the last time, I didn't replace it because I knew approximately how many steps a day I was walking. I found it motivated me to get in those extra steps needed to reach 10,000 or more!
I walk with my neighbor almost every night all year long. We average 3 miles each night. I have kept my weight the same (give or take a pound or two) for the last 5 years.
I have a friend who lost over 100 lbs in a year by walking his treadmill every day and following a low carb diet.
