just came back home after seeing a podiatrist...like many who have posted on this board..i have had some discomfort in my left foot...i read many different topic's posted on foot pain before...especially about diabetic neuropothy...well she did some tests..prick my feet with a needle to see if i can feel it which i did..even did some sort of vibration test..again felt it which is good..but like i expected..she said sometime's diabetic's have problem's with there feet..called neuropothy..maybe my doc could send me to a neurologist...next time i see my doc will ask her about this...

it wasen't fruitfull visiting a podiatrist..she said i had calluses on both heel..she took out look's like a file and scraped both heel's..looked like she was peeling a potato..i felt so embaressed

also gave me some lactinol cream for my heels to rub in..also said i had athletes's foot lol..gave me some thing called loprox gel for that geez...so all in all i guess it's good to see a podiatrist after all...

Interesting, Johnny. I've actually never been to the podiatrist, my gp and endo do inspect my feet regularly though.

As for the foot-file, it's a regular feature of a pedicure for us gals, so don't feel embarrased. It's good to keep the calluses down to a minimum, so you could buy one yourself. If you get a good foot cream you won't have that happen so much. Remember though, to not put the moisturizer between your toes - creates a healthy environment for fungus and such.

johnnylol I was told not to ever go to a podiatrist but many ppl do. My doc checks my feet ever time I go. I have neropathy and I didn't have pain when it started so sorry I am no help. My feet just lost some feeling in them. Just check your feet daily and notice any changes and you should be fine

Belinda, I'm curious as to why your doctor said not to go to a podiatrist. Was it just because he could look after your feet and therefore it wasn't necessary, or does he not approve of podiatrists?

I go to podiatrist who specializes in working with Diabetics,

I go every two-three months. Atthis stage of the disease I'm ther for him to check my feet and to shave off the caluses that build up from the way I walk. That treatment makes my feet feel better and keeps me more sensitive about my feet. I also help keep them "Normally" tender so that I will be more able to become aware of any problems that might develop. Lastly, I do check them as part of regular self-awareness campaign.

Can't play golf, run, or play tennis with good Feetsies.;)
