View Full Version : Hello From Wisconsin
Iam new to the forum. I have never done anything like this before so Iam a little nervous. Iam hoping to get some ideas on how other people are dealing with diabetes.

Hi Nora,
How long have you had diabetes and what type are you? I'm going on 29 years as a Type 1, and am currently doing very well. Attitude can take you a long way. I've been up, down, and in between, but mostly good and happy to be here! This disease has been a blessing in many ways. I'm a bit of a chronic health nut. Except for the habit of smoking, which I finally kicked for the last time over a month ago.
It's finally Superbowl time . . . sorry the Cowboys aren't there, but I'm going to enjoy anyway . . .
Welcome!!

Hi Nora. Welcome to the forum. Don't worry about being nervous. Many of us start out that way. Relax. You'll feel much more comfortable after you get to know us. We really don't bite (much) :D . Tell us a little about yourself. Are you Type 1 or 2? Are you testing, exercising, watching your carb intake, etc? How did you find out you are diabetic?
Hi Jan, Iam a type2 diabetic. I have been for a couple years now. At first I was able to control my glucose with diet and exercise, but now since the end of January I have been on Metformin ER. Doesn't seem to be working very well. I go to the doctor in a couple weeks so we will see what she has to say. Iam from Wisconsin so Iam a true Packer fan. It's football great to watch.
Hello lewsterr,Iam type2 diabetic. Iam testing twice a day. I found out I was diabetic after getting routine blood work done.I was very shocked of course. I was walking for exercise, but haven't done it lately. I have to get motivated and start it up again. I know I feel so much better doing it. I try to watch the carbs, but some days I don't do to well. For a couple years I was able to control my glucose on my own , but now since the end of January I was put on MetforminER. Doesn't seem to work real well. Go to the doc in a couple weeks

Welcome Nora.
You're actually the 2nd Nora from Wisconsin. Look for NoraWI, but she's an infrequent visitor. I am also from there. I last lived in Lodi, 1969.

Nora, Welcome :shakehand
I'm on Metformin too.
You should count the carbs. as you may know they have a significant effect on BG's. in my case the less carbs I eat the less meds I need.
What was your latest A1C test?
