Hello Everyone!

My name is Jake, I'm from Western New York. I have been Diabetic since I was 13, I'm 25 now. I am trying to get better control of my diabetes, until recently I haven't had health insurance and my control has been horrible :eek: . I have kinda forgotten a lot about it because I had ignored it for so long. I am hoping to make some friends here on the board because I don't really have anyone who A.) knows what its like to have diabetes or B.) has diabetes that I can talk to about issues and hopefully support.

Hey Hello Jake!!! :), I have allways wondered of what NY was like. Is it like the big apple like the meny say it is.

Thank you for your warm welcome! I guess I should have been more specific though, I'm not from NYC, I'm from Western NY State, just south of Buffalo. I have never been to the big apple, though I may venture there someday :)

Hi Jake,

This is THE place to be if you live with diabetes. In your case, it's exactly where you need to be. It's not too late to get started taking care of yourself. Start being your own best friend and put your health first. You can learn a lot by reading old threads, etc., but make sure you ask questions and get involved.

Welcome aboard Jake. I'm new here myself but everyone has been great so far. I've spent a bit of time Upstate as a good part of my family is from Lockport and the surrounding area; I really like it up there. Hope you enjoy your time here and get your D back under control. I can't imagine trying to do so without insurance.

How did you deal with no insurance? I am going through an issue with my new insurance. They are refusing to cover anything related to my diabetes bc of a "Pre-existing condition clause". Stupid insurance:mad:
I also recently joined these boards. Everyone seems really nice!
