I am curious to hear from people who exercise at different times of the day. As an example do you find you have better morning numbers if you exercise in the evening rather than the morning?
Or are your morning numbers worse exercising in the evening?
Or is there no difference?

For me, exercising in the morning helps my evening numbers. Exercise in the evening makes it hard for me to fall asleep more than normal...but I'm also an insomniac!

Hi Schlep!
As an avid Tandem Bicyclist my prferred exercise is weather dependent and it moves through the clock to the periods of the day when the combination of temperature and traffic is most comfortable. I have found no direct coorelation between when I get exercise and FBG numbers.
To me the issue is the placement of carb consumption. I find that carbs before, or immediately following (and I mean within minutes) exercise keeps the BG and FBG levels low. However, carbs not closely linked to exercise allow the BG and often the FBG levels to climb.

My BG results are fairly steady regardless of the time I exercise. I will do 8 min cardio warm up on eliptical, 30 min. weight lifting, and 8 min cardio cool down. I can seem my bg rise on my cgms almost imediatly upon the intial cardio. It continues to rise, 40-50 pts. total upon completion. It will stay there for hours unless I correct. I have started to take a pre workout bolous to account for this rise and it seems to work great. No post exercise lows. This will happen day, night, and weekends too. I believe it has to do with hormones released and how the body is utilizing the energy source.

The only difference I have ever noticed is when I exercise in the morning before I eat. My BG will be fine before, durning and immediatly after my run, but sometimes a few hours later it will be really high (300+). So I always immediatly eat breakfast when I am done and usually have to double my bolus. Then I find that I am much more insulin sensitive for the remainder of the day.

I se a direct correlation. When I bicycle at night (3 or 4 hours
prior to sleeping, my BG drops a bit more overnight.
I take Lantus at HS and usually see an overnight 30-40 point drop with no exercise prior to HS. With exercise, I will see a 60-70 point overnight drop. This works fairly consistently, so
I can anticipate it with a snack prior to sleep.
