New to this forum so please excuse any mistakes. I added Byetta to the mix in November '08 and since then went from 5mcg 2x's to 10mcg 2x's each day.

The question I have is what size needle do I use? I have all three sizes, most recently using the 1/2 inch for the 10mcg.

Confused??? Yes, I am.

Welcome to Diabetes Forums!

When I was using needles, I used the 1/2 inch 28 gauge needles by BD. I tried the shorter ones at the recommendation of my pharmacist, but they would sting. I went back to longer needles. If you are overweight, then you might want to stick to a longer needle. If not, try the shorter ones and see how you do.

Hello Mr. Agent and welcome to the forum.

I don't use needles (yet) so I can't help. However, I'm sure that there are plenty of folks here who can.

Hi and welcome to the board! Glad to have you here. :)

As for needles, use whichever you are comfortable with. If the longer needles are too painful, use the shorts. If you have a lot of fat in the area you inject, then you might need to use the long ones.

Welcome! I don't use needles, but my advice is use the one that hurts the least!

Seriously though, welcome to the forums! I am sure someone will have some great advice for ya!

Welcome to the club.
I agree with those that recommend the least pain. Ask you doc for samples to try of each gauge & length. When I injected insulin I used 30 gauge 1/2 inch long needles. Rarely hurt.

Just wanted to welcome you to the forum. I agree with masses, use whatever length and gauge needle you're comfortable with as long as you don't get anything seeping back out when you inject. If that happens you'll want to go to a longer needle.
