Is there some rule that if it's really, really important to you that your numbers stay in range that you will automatically go high for no reason??? Which will then irritate you to no end, thus making the situation worse???

I think you may have something there! My numbers have come way down since DX, now have a 14 day average of 95.4, down from 378 at DX 10 weeks ago. Now I get p****d off if I go above 110 (fasting) or 127 two hours after meals. So of course when I want to see around 99 on the meter, I see 109!!!

Wonder if we could be stressing about numbers and this in itself increases the numbers?

In the same way, just before an A1c is due we're likely to have a horrible time keeping the BGs down.

You get low just before you want to drive and high just before you want to eat a high carb meal.

Yes, it Murphy's Law for sure. I will have good numbers for weeks, then skyrocket a week or two before an A1C lab test. Never fails...(with me, it's usually PMS for about 10 days...) which seems like 1/3 of my life...which it is!

Yes. The stress over "staying good" makes it difficult to "stay good".

My best weeks are when I "take things as they come". I'll forget to check average BG for a week or two... then do it, and be pleasantly surprised by some nice numbers.

This is so true! Makes me wonder why I stress so much every day about my numbers! I see my endo on the 19th, and have had bad numbers for the last 5 days! Too bad if I dont go he wont give me any refills! I even take my blood pressure at home and take a picture of it on my phone, because my doctor-itus kicks in when I get there and I sky-rocket! It's a love-hate relationship.
