I just joined and this will already be my fourth post.
So here is my introduction:
I'm a 24 year old entrepreneur about 25 miles north outside of Boston, MA. I've had diabetes since I was 15 years old and its always been a challenge to maintain my A1C levels. I guess I just rather eat whatever I want and not let it control my life. I've always been able to control my sugar levels when I have test strips but I'm uninsured and have been for the past 7 years just been paying out of my pocket and it's far from cheap.
Recently my fiance and I found out she is pregnant and I'm getting all emotional because I want to be around for a long time for my children and I'll be a dad come September sometime. I want to control my diabetes, my life and my future.
I was actually going to start a diabetes forum because of my business we do web hosting and web design and so fourth but seen there was this one already established, So no need to compete I already love it.
Thank you all for your support, I'm sure ill say it again sometime!

Hi James, welcome! Sometimes it takes a "big event" like you've got coming in September to make us take notice of our health and do what we need to do! Congrats to you both on this new chapter in your life.
Look around, ask lots of questions. There are tons of great people here ready to help you.

Welcome to the forum James, you'll find a lot of good information and support here. Congrats on your upcoming new baby! Just make taking care of yourself a priority along with taking care of mom and your child and you'll be around for a good long while.
Looks like a nice business you have there; right up my alley. I may have to get in touch with you about some web hosting. :)

Hi James and welcome to the forum.
Yep, this is a great bunch of people dealing with the same things we all deal with every single day. No one understands a diabetic like another diabetic.
I've had type 1 diabetes 48 years since I'd just turned 13. I'm still going strong. I had a long and happy career as a public school teacher, have two grown daughters, I'm a walker, camper, artist, sailor, cook, music and d;ance lover and volunteer who teaches art to kids and their parents at my local library. I've helped my husband build two of our houses and have lived in the suburbs, snowy mountains, on a boat, on a farm and in a city downtown condo. Diabetes hasn't been a problem with any of that.
I haven't always been spot-on in maintaining my blood sujgars, mainly because I got it before we accurately could test, but I've tried my best and then moved on. I'm still learning new things about management every day, much of it from this forum.
In short, take care of you because it's worth it and keep looking up! Congratulations on your expected addition, and once again, welcome.

Welcome to the forum, James. Glad you found us and see no reason to compete. With the members we have in addition to the combined knowledge, you can't get better than this.
Also, congratulations to you and your fiance. It's strange how it takes something like this for you to start taking control of your health. Don't forget, also, to start saving now for the kid's college tuition.
Seem like we have a fair number of I.T./tech geeks on here. Add me to the list. And another forum user who lives within easy driving distance. And a few more I've seen...
I guess it's natural, considering the medium. :)

I really appreciate everyones warm welcome to DF. I think I have changed my life just posting here. It' might feel nice of the owner of this forum to know he is really a big help to everyones lifes in more than one way.
As far as IT/TECH people on here thats great I been doing my business since I was 15 years old and just grown with it and never had a boss since i was 17. It's great being smart and not being 100K in debt. If you have questions IT related or hosting related let me know im a ticking timebomb :)
I have a lot of concerns with my future baby and odds of receving my diabetes. My moms father had it and I got it when I turned 15 years old. I'm the only one in my whole family with it. I'm a little worried because it really has thrown me through some big loops and a lot of depression.
Thank you all once again and thank you to the forum owner.
