So, I'm just getting started with the carb counting stuff. Measure this, weigh that, add, divide, multiply, yadda, yadda. We had a set-and-a-half of measuring cups and 2 fluid measures, and I kept running short, so I purchased one more of each. Put them all in the dishwasher, along with several dirty old ones.

DH empties the dishwasher last night, and comes to the room where I'm digging out some wrapping paper. "I know what I'm getting you for your next birthday," he announces with a hint of a smile. I take the bait and inquire, even though I sense the smart aleck in him coming out.

"Measuring Cup of the Month Club."

Oh, brother.

Just make sure one of the sets is made of either glass or stainless...that way, when he "comments" you can get your point across... alongside his head!;) :T

I want to join that club! My kids are always taking off with my measuring cups. I found three out in the yard, grown over with some weeds, last year. Lovely kids...

It is funny Leafbear!

I need more measuring cups . . .

I need more too! I keep using them for pet food scoops in the small bags of cat food crunchies...

I bought some really nice metal cups at (of all places) Harry & David...I didn't see them last Xmas.

Tuesday Morning had some nice ones also.

Weight Watchers sells large serving spoons that are accurate measures...I haven't fallen for those yet, but they look handy. Good for measuring rice, potatoes, etc., family style.

That's funny -- same here (pets have my measuring scoops) AND I'm going to Harry & David today in just a while. I LOVE the dried cherries from there & I'll see if they have any good measuring cups.

OMG you all live in my house somewhere don't you? I have several in the dog food bags, a couple in the coffee container, one or two left with my children, never to be seen again and I am sure my husband has a few in the garage.

To heck with the glass and stainless steel measuring cups, I am getting a hammer.

LOL this post made me laugh. We used to have a dishwasher that would blow anything light up and out of the baskets. ALL of my plastic measure cups had melt marks from the heating coil. I finally gave up and got metal ones and have had those probably 20 years! A gal can never have too many measuring cups...if one is good then 5 must be better!!

*Ahem* We have three sets and it's still not enough for me. Yes I do use them regularly. I'll be making a loaf of multi-grain flax seed bread tonight or tomorrow. Not nearly enough measuring spoons either. I hate measuring my salt, hot sauce, sugar, and spices with the same spoons.

LOL, you made me laugh. Of course I "Ment" to say us "guys" didnt I?? Measuring spoons are another thing I collect too. The ones that are all tied together are silly, I always disconnect them.

And while we're on the topic of measuring, have you posted that flax seed recipe somewhere? I add flax seeds to the families oatmeal, muffins, etc. I give them a whirl in an old coffee grinder that I use for herbs/spices only.

I made the mistake of getting rid of my "ugly" beige Tupperware measuring cups when I purchased the "sleek" Harry & David measuring cups...only problem is when I need to melt a tiny bit of butter in the microwave...I don't have the small plastics anymore...so keep both metal & plastic!

I keep one in the oatmeal box...two plastic ones recently bought are for my measured soup or snack cereal.

Love those cups and measuring spoons! Use my small scale quite often, too. I do have problems counting enough carbs for all of the home-cooking I do. Measure...measure!!

Just found some collapsible ones at a kitchen store. They fit nicely in the drawers. I've got metal, plastic, rubber and glass - something for all occasions!
