Hello everyone :) my story is that i was diagnosed 4 months ago with type 2 diabetes, i take 500 mg metaformin tabs x 2 daily, since the diagnoses i have dieted pretty hard and have lost 18 kilos and intend to loose about that much again but it seems to be getting harder to loose the weight now, my first HbA1c test was 6.0.

Hi Johny, welcome to the forums! Congrats on your weight loss...I know how hard that is to do. Don't get discouraged if your weight is coming off more slowly than you'd like. You may have hit a plateau, where you need to either "step it up" a notch..or change what type exercise you're doing for a little while...seems our bodies adjust and it takes more to see the same results (at least its been that way for me). Hang in there!

Thanks everyone for your warm welcome, it's very much appreciated.:)
I feel really lucky to have come across this forum as i have a lot to learn, my doc reffered me to a diabetic educator initially when first diagnosed but this person talked that fast i couldn't hardly understand her and she didn't like being asked questions
which i thought was important so i never bothered to go back for a another visit, i was also sent to a dietitian and she was really good and very helpfull, so i have been trying to learn as much as i can off the internet when i stumbled onto this forum, my lucky break :)
anthill, i am about the same distance from Melbourne city as you are in Hastings, i am by the sea too in Portarlington.
princesslinda, yes i have hit a plateau, it's seems i will have to increase or change my exercise routine to get the fat burning happening again, i am very determined to get the rest of the weight off.
again thank you all,
Johny :)

Welcome Johnny, I'm sure you will get all you questions answered here. Glad to have you on-board. Those plateaus are difficult to overcome, but don't get discouraged. Many of us have been there and succeeded.

Hi Johny & Welcome!
You are doing well -- Plateaus happen! During that time you aren't losing more, as long as you don't gain any back, you are still doing a good job. Linda said it right -- either step it up and/or give your routine a little more variation. Sometimes you might be hanging on to a habit of eating something that you think is healthy, but really has too many calories. I think sometimes it's easier to judge what someone else is doing wrong than it is to identify what we are doing wrong ourselves! Step back and look at your whole eating and exercise routine.
Keep up the good work and I'm glad another Aussie is here with us. I'd love to get to visit Australia some day!

Thank you everyone, i am very glad to have found you all :) & there is nothing near as good as to be able to convert with others that have been through the experiences that the newer diabetics are challenged with, again thank you all for your support.
