Yeah!
Veronica,
Congratulations. I'm still so happy I started pumping. I got a new, upgraded pump a week ago and I still feel very special and happy. Make sure you ask questions here, use your trainer (hopefully yours is as good as mine) and be proud of yourself for choosing to move toward excellent control. There is a learning curve of a few weeks (maybe days or months even), and you may get discouraged every so often, but stick with it and you should be happy.

Veronica - you have chosen a good product. Before I took the plunge from MDI of 40 years - I did my research on various pumps out there on the market. I like the Animas 2020 so far - it's easy to read the screen - has fail safe buttons for not bolusing by accident (found MM didn't have that feature - with Animas you touch any button - and infusion stops right there and right now!!). If you have read another one of my posts here - I am hanging in there waiting for my insurance company to fund me for purchasing the Animas. I've only been using the loaner pump a few weeks - but I'm sold on it. I'm sort of self taught on using the pump - had 2 brief meetings with a diabetic educator from MM - but she felt I had enough knowledge to go on my own once basals were set (I've tweaked them a few times for certain occassions).
Like Jan says - you may get discouraged from time to time - but that's life - just smile and laugh - things will go back to normal (e.g. during my holidays with the Animas my a.m. BG's were horrible - but I was fighting a cold/flu bug - eating different foods). I'm now back to normal a.m. BG's.
Enjoy your pump - it's the best thing since sliced bread!!!

I actually know of someone who traded in her Animas 2020 for a Cozmo because of this "feature." She would put the pump back in her pocket after bolusing and be high hours later due to the bolus being stopped by accident.

Wow! This is one of the features I like about the Animas. With the MM - to halt the infusion - you had to go thru' so many screens to stop the infusion. The only prob I have had so far with the "touch any button" when infusing - is my cat this morning - just as I was bolusing decided he wanted to check out my bowl of cereal and jumped on the kitchen table. As I pushed him away I accidently hit a button on the pump - and it stopped infusing. I then had to take the bowl of cereal away from the table - so Zorro wouldn't consume my breakie - and bolused the remaining units that hadn't gone into me (only .14 had gone into me and I was bolusing for 3.0 at the time). I have learnt that when clipping the pump back on to my pants as I bolus - not to touch any of the buttons to stop the infusion. Remember - I've only had this pump 2 weeks - so still learning ... to love it.
Still waiting to hear what my insurance company says about purchasing this. Dreading the thought of going back to MDI's - pumping really spoils a gal terribly!!!

You have to press "act" twice.
