Hey all,

I got my pump not too long ago but I have no been on here to share the news so here I am to let anyone interested know that I am on the pump.

I have the "Medtronic Paradigm 722 REAL Time" pump.

I only had one really rocky day with the pump and that was the day after I had it so it was expected am sure.

I can't believe the flexibility of my life now, I no longer have to worry about my needle phobia as the Quick-Serter does not actually cause any real pain or fear for me.

The control is just amazing, I can go to bed with a BG of 5 and wake up with the same BG, I can just tell the pump how many carbs am eating and it works out the insulin, I never realised a pump did quite so much.

Duel wave bolus, square wave bolus etc, the whole bolus wizard makes everything simple and fast.

I don't really know much about what different pumps have and such but this one impresses me a lot.

My thoughts on it are that I should have been o a pump ages ago.

I feel like I have my life back after needle phobia taking it away, I never blame diabetes for anything, I just get frustrated with the injections.

Anyway, here is a happy pump story for you all to read :)

Congratulations on your new pump. I honestly never knew how much I would love the pump until I got one. Go figure! I know you will do well.

Congrats!

Hi Gobbly,

Were/are you able to get the CBGM sensors on the NHS at all?

Thanks
Sean

Shane,

Congrats! I love my pump too -- got an upgrade a little over a week ago & really like the trainer I recently had assigned to me. Medtronic sends a trainer with each upgrade too. I quit pumping for 4 years (thought it was just 3 to begin with). Because of this forum & the encouragement & knowledge, I started using my old one again, then called Medtronics and they insisted I get an updated one!

Happy pumping to you! It is kinda nice not to have so many sticks every day.

I started pumping in October and I'm still kicking myself for letting my fears keep me from it sooner. I love my pump !!!!!:D
Shane, I'm sure you will do wonderfully with yours. Happy pumping !!!! :D

:D hehe thanks, I think more people need to get pumping if they are not already!

I think that is only available on the NHS if you would seriously benefit from it.

The sensor costs £300 for the NHS if I heard correctly from my healthcare team so they are super tight on giving them out.

Congratulations and welcome to the club.

I'm currently in the appeal process to acquire the MM 722 and CGMS myself...

Hi,
Good to hear the pump is going well for you. I started pumping not long ago and am very happy that I was able to go from MDI to pumping so quickly after diagnosis.
Really makes a difference! :D

I will be using a pump as well, once we get my BGL's under control. They are starting to level out, unfortunately, they are leveling out still too high. Hopefully, it'll only be a few more weeks before I can start looking seriously at the pump.

So they won't put you on the best regimine available for controlling your BG's until your BGs are more controlled. :stupido3: :stupido2: :stupido: :stupid: ... :thumpdown

Yeah that sounds stupid, with the NHS they look for badly controlled people who wanna change to use pumps.

Since having the pump my control has been just perfect, there is no excuse for me to even have a slightly high bood sugar as the insulin is there all day and everyday to sort it out.
