Hi!
My name is Lucas Maree. I am a type 2 and am using diamicron 80mg two tabs twice daily. I am going to start injecting Lantus SoloStar as of next week. It all seems a bit daunting, but I suppose I will get used to it.:o

Welcome.

I'm curious why you two take it twice a day when the company's literature says it's designed for once only. SERVIER - Healthcare Professionals (http://www.servier.com/pro/diabetologie/diamicron/diamicron.asp)

Have either of you tried metformin?

My understanding is that sulfonylureas are generally short to medium term only and actually help burn out the beta cells; though the diamicron site claims otherwise.

Anyhoo, Lantus works well for many and not so well for others. The tricky part is getting your AM fastings down without going hypo in the night. Up dosages slowly, and try to get some 2am to 4am tests in.

Welcome to the club.

This disease is daunting but not impossible. We humans seem to be able to handle a lot.
