Blood Type Diet (http://www.drlam.com/blood_type_diet/)
This last week I've experimented a bit with buckwheat. I find it sends me much higher than expected. This diet lists it as a food I should avoid as a blood type of B . I'm also drawn to the foods I'm supposed to eat. Coincidence?

This reminded me of a book "Blood Type, Body Type and You," that I ordered after hearing the author being interviewed on the radio. It was all about what illnesses different blood types and body types were more prone to, as well as foods to avoid and foods to eat freely, and which type exercise was most beneficial to each body type. Gonna have to get it out and read again and see what it says about "fat type-2, O pos, over 40 woman." I wasn't diabetic then, so now I may REALLY be in trouble!

I read about this a while back. I found the notion compelling at first, I forget why now but I later rejected eating by blood type for some reason.
Nutrigenomics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nutrigenomics) is where it's at. Too bad it isn't more practical yet.

How funny you brought this up! While pet-sitting for a friend, I found this in her library about 3 weeks ago.
I'm type O, and supposed to be a meat eater, which I am NOT (or don't want to be). However, I'm eating fish again (and a little turkey), and going by several of the suggestions in the book. I cut out the gluten products, as suggested for my type, and the swelling in my hands has gone way down! I've also been eating a lot of fresh and dried (delicious) cherries (also low glycemic index), as the author recommends cherries and bananas (don't remember what else) for Os. Cherries are very predictable on my bg (used to think they wouldn't be). I eat hords(?) of spinach and broccoli.
Some of the suggestions blew me away (the meat thing); others I've been going with and doing well! Of course there are critics . . . as always with anything. But I'm still experimenting and can't ignore this information!

Oh yeah, I read that blood type diet has no scientific basis whatsoever. That might have been what turned me off.
Wikipedia: The blood type diet is a diet advocated by Peter D'Adamo and outlined in his book Eat Right 4 Your Type. Its basic premise is that ABO blood type is the most important factor in determining a healthy diet. The diet is widely derided by dieticians, physicians, and nutritional scientists as having no scientific basis.(link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_type_diet))

I read that too (Wikipedia) AND I don't really have a desire to become a meat eater! Shocked I'm supposed to be one. I'm just trying to find balance.
BUT, I like that going gluten-free did help me, as suggested. My mission to find TRUTH is so hard . . . .!!
Keith, I'm checking out your eating ways . . . .
I don't care that much about stuffing my face, so, if there was a perfect healthy nutrient pill to swallow -- I'd take it!

I don't think the blood type is as good an indicator as someones genetic makeup.
But I was amused by the mayo article denying it and there is a link to an article about low carb diets and I believe that article is bunk
So what is the real truth?

... My mission to find TRUTH is so hard . . . .!!
...So what is the real truth?
I don't claim to know. I got so much truth and untruth commin' at me I don't have time to sort it all out. Perhaps eating by blood type has some merit, as of now I think maybe not.
I say that nutrigenomics is a more scientific version of a similar concept. We're just getting started but this looks very promising to me. Perhaps nutrigenomics does explain all this "Your mileage may vary" stuff. But its a long hard slog through gazzilions of genetic permutations. Lots of time and money to decipher... Once we finally get the juice out of nutrigenomics, we find that it doesn't quite explain everything, but there is yet another deeper layer of understanding many time more complex that starts to, and so on...
The truth is a goal, one we may never reach. We want for answers, it is our lot. The truth is where we keep looking for it. It's not easy to seek that which we know we will never find, but we must. No one promised the truth would be easy.
When I have a better answer I'll share. :)
