How often do you's change your Infusion set?

And how much insulin do you load.

I change my site every 2-3 days and load the resevoir with 150 units. I typically take 35-45 units a day. Ever try the quik-sets? I just got a sample of them from Minimed last week and I think I am going to switch over to them from the sof-set micros.

I wanted to try them. Let me know how they are.

I use the sof-set micros with the short tube. How About the quick serter? Do you have that too.

I have tried the quick-sets 3 times so far and have liked them a lot. I have a 3 month supply being shipped to me any day now hopefully... I don't find that the sof-sets hurt (I feel a little bit but its no big deal) but I think the quick-sets hurt even less-- I do not feel a thing. I used the quick-serter with it. When I first started the pump there was no inserter for the sof-sets and they did not have micros out yet-- Ouch!! I though they hurt, however it was still better than shots, in my opinion. I use to ice my stomach before putting it in (I do not use my stomach anymore though, I found my lower hip/butt hurts much less)

I need to restock. I will have to go with the quik set.
They call it the quick set, is it faster?

What size tubing? Also were do you insert it?

I have been chaning mine once a week. I know i should be chaning 2 or 3 times a week.

My daughter has beenon the pump since October 23rd and we love it. We change her site every 2 days - the endocrinologist & CDE say by changing every 2 days it will help prevent scar tissue from forming & is better for her tissue health. We love the quick sets and find that she can swim with out loosening the tape! Her Hgb a1c went from 11.2 to 7.2 since being on the pump!!! Good luck to you!:)

I like using the longer tubing usually.... The cannula length is 6mm or 9mm (I use shorter). You can insert it anywhere you'd insert a regular infusion set. I use my lower hip/butt, though a few years ago I'd only use my stomach.

Greetings. I am a new member, so it may take time to negotiate the web site.

I have a Disetronic Pump. I change the site every third day, and change the tubing every sixth day. It works well for me, but I do have trouble sometimes with the site lasting the 3 days. I'm not sure why it happens but the result is usually a bruise mark. Sometimes it effects the distrubution of the insulin and that is when I look at the site to see if there is any redness. If not it isn't the site that is the problem. Is there other info you are interested in?

Having read the replies, I did not fully respond. I use an average of 40 units/day, and my tubing is 31 in. long. I'm tall, 6 ft. I notice so far that everyone seems to use MiniMed. Anyone out there who uses Disetronic?

Tony--I use the soft set and have used it from the start. It is less painful then the shots. I always use my stomach because they said that is where the absorption is best. I like it there.
I change my set every 3 days. I use 110 units of insulin when I fill my syringe etc etc, usually have insulin left over but that amount seems to do better.
I am short so use the 24 inch tubing. the 36 was past my kneecaps.
They said the upper arms and thighs-upper butt could be used but I rotate left to right side every time I change- --sometimes I get knots or bumps from the insulin not absorbing and it gets sore.
Has anyone hit a blood vessel yet-I thought I was going to bleed to death !!!Had to remove site and do over and hold gause until it stopped bleeding. was Ok though

i am using the soft set ultimate right now ....but they are changing me over to the silhoutte...because my infusion gets pinched from bending or whatever happens my educator told me that she thinks the silhoutte will be better because its at a 30 degree angle instead of a 90 degree ...who knows...

One of the ways I use to remember to change the site, and the tubing is to keep a chart of the
month on the door and check what I'm doing and on what day. It is a list of the days of the month with
a space to check. It works nicely for me. I don't have to think about it, only mark it when I do it and
know I can double check when I "wonder" when to change.
