I have seen a lot of posts where people have had high sugar and they drink a lot of water. Does drinking water really bring your numbers down?

I don't think so, but your body getting rid of sugar loses lots of water.

Can't answer completely, but the advice when having ketones is to drink a lot of water to flush them out.

I don't know that the water helps bring down your blood sugar, rather the water dilutes the urine in the kidneys, flushing out the ketones. Also, when we have high blood sugars, we are often dehydrated as we tend to urinate more when high, and this will give us the much-needed hydration at this point.
