Does anybody know the actual current retail pricing for most of the insulin pumps out there?

They are all generally the same price otherwise insurance would deny based on price and I'm not sure of any insurances that refuse certain models. It's hard to really find the price because insurance companies talk down the price to as low as possible. The easiest way would be to find someone that is paying 100% out of pocket on here. Heck, I guess if someone paid 20% and paid it all (no max out of pocket) then just multiply that by 5 and that would be the price.

I did a quick search online and found this...
Better Living Now: Diabetes Pharmacy > Insulin Pump Therapy > Insulin Infusion Pump (http://www.betterlivingnow.com/products/sscat_listing.cfm?gpi10=9720103000&mx=1&start=1)
I don't know what the insurance price or how accurate those are but the pricing is roughly as follows...
Cozmo: $7,549.85
Animas: $8,843.00
Minimed x22: $10,314.68

I don't think this is a good way to figure the price. If you pay 20%, you are paying 20% of the contracted rate, not retail.
I think the best way to find this out is to call the pump company and ask. I am pretty sure if Medtronic was the most expensive pump out there, insurance companies wouldn't push them so hard.
It would be great to post the prices you find out from the companies themselves.

Technically if one pays in full they should be able to pay whatever the insurance rate is. Finding that number out though may be extremely hard.

Is that a challenge? LOL

So far I have Minimed at $6195 and Animas at $5975. As for the support, both answered immediately but Animas was friendlier. They asked me how I would be paying and said if I paid in full that the rate is lower and if I couldn't, they had numerous different payment plans available to meet my needs. Minimed didn't mention anything about helping me pay for it.

I recently got a new MM 722 and my insurance company was charged $6195 by Medtronic, allowable amount $4656.00 and my copay was $930. The net that the insurance company paid was $3720.00.

That sounds about right duckhunter. I found the price on the Medtronic site and it was exactly what you and Jedi said. $6,195.

The Omnipod system is around $1100, give or take a 100. The control device/glucometer (they call it a PDM) is about $800. The individual pods $34, and are sold in boxs of 10 (box cost $340). This will last for approximately a month. Each pod works for 3 days.
The initial outlay of money is cheaper then a "traditional" pump, however there is a recurring cost associated with the monthly supply of pods. You will also have to use the Freestyle testing strips with the PDM.
Hope this helpful.

They can run from $5,000 to $8,000.00 right nowI have an Insulim pump from Animas that I used for almost a year but now I just got another one from mini med with the glucose sensor. (together is approx. $7500). I want to sell the Animas pump, this pump is really easy to understand, the mini med is too complicated but I need the glucose sensor because my sugars are really bad.

I find that funny that your insurance got ripped off so much since the number in my previous post on here was a direct call to Animas. Of course though, my insurance is ripped off on insulin through their mail order, Novolog from them is $110 a vial, same at Walgreens is around $85.

Are you sure your insurance actually paid that much? It may just be the "asking price."

Is this the 24kt Gold Gucci Model?
I know the American Dollar is bing de valued daily even while we sleep but at this pace we have better start divesting the dollar and investing in Euro, Swiss Franc or Gold Bullion.
Over 8 Grand.
That is very scary.

I am in the process of purchasing my first pump after giving MM a try for a few months - and then the Animas 2020.
I was quoted $6,895.00 CDN for purchasing the Animas 2020 pump (my insurance covers 80% - nice birthday gift for myself don't you think :) ?)
Strangely enough - for the Paradigm 522 (with all the bells and whistles) - I was quoted  $15,000 CDN!!! And my private insurance here in Canada (Industrial Alliance) - was willing to cover that purchase (again 80%).
I went with the Animas 2020 because of not being stuck with only using MM products for infusion sets. Plus so far - anyone I have contacted via email/phone within the Animas organisation has been very helpful and prompt (e.g. I send an email to them - and they call back/email within 5-10 minutes - talk about fast). I had problems getting hold of my MM rep a few times (took 3 days one time to get a reply - yikes) - was abit scary since I was just learning how to use the pump (I wasn't allowed to call the normal 1-800 number due to having a loaner pump). With Animas - I was allowed to contact the 1-800 for help with the loaner pump I presently have.
Still working on getting the  software for the Animas 2020 - due to language laws here in Quebec it can't be released until a French program is available!!! That's the only cruncher holding me back from purchasing the Animas 2020.

MM does have a payment program. I did it and the payments were really reasonable, though.
