Ok, so I am a fourth grade teacher... which means kids' birthday treats... mmmmmmm, usually :)
I am logging everything I eat... test... bolus... etc... this week as I have an appt. with the dietician this weekend...
My student brought in my weakness today... HUGE (it was really big!) glazed doughnut with extra thick frosting as well...
On another week, I would have given in... but my week/day, has been darn close to perfect, so I couldn't risk messing it up! (Shows the power of logging...)
So... although I call it willpower... maybe it was more fear of the Doctor!!
What is your carbohydrate weakness??

I hate when donuts call to me....I pass KrispyKreme on my way home at nights and the smell of "hot donuts now" is incredible...so glad its winter and the car windows are up!
Actually, the carbs I miss most would have to be bread/pasta/potatoes.....i'm more salty than sweet!

artichokes - can't pass 'em up, but then I don't really need to.
I walk past a cookie display 3 times each workday. I just let them all scream at me. I'll even tease myself with a long stare or even a whiff, haven't caved in once. Self deprivation rocks!

I'm not a big "sweets" eater...but when I do eat them I just bolus and seem to tolerate them like any other carb. Other than nutrition, sweets are just carbs...like anything else IMHO.
A banana has about 25 carbs which is about the same as a Krispy Kreme. My body really can't tell that much difference between carbs.
I look at slow-acting carbs differently though...such as pasta, rice & pizza. But sweets, not a problem with my bolus of insulin always ready.
Counting calories...that is another story and reason I skip most of the junk. But they are sure good every now and then.
Congrats on your will-power!

I love nachos, the messier the better! Gobs of junk on them, the kind you eat when out with friends or when a good ballgame is on TV. <sigh>

Ahhhh... definitely a good choice here... Amazing how fast the carbs in tortilla chips add up!

Chocolate! Chocolate covered doughnuts, Chocolatepudding or Deepfried banana with ice cream and syrup!

Ok, if I have to pick a good one...how about those "molten" chocolate cakes...where the inside is warm liquid chocolate and it is swimming in fresh creme?
You can make a "good" version of this using fat-free fudge mix in yogurt...a couple of tablespoons of the fudge mix (No Pudge Fudge Mix) into about 8 oz. of plain yogurt. Microwave for about 30 seconds...check, I'm not sure about the time...it's been a while since I've made this. It's an old Weight Watchers trick.

Um, we call them "cop cakes", thank you very much. LOL.
Seriously, my biggest problem is the Cheese Danish. Even now, I usually have them on Thursday's. Yesterday, I was starting to go hypo (64), and just happened to be near the service station here that serves the best darn danishes I've ever had. I had my favorite danish, which of course brought my sugar back up. :)
I know that I have to be careful with what I eat, but that doesn't mean I have to stop eating the foods I love the most. It just means I have to watch how much of them I eat, and the frequency that I eat them. Also, you will never know how a specific food will effect your blood sugar, if you never eat it. So, I consider it a tasty experiment when I eat a new sweet. I just pop out my meter, and test my hypo thesis... err, I mean hypothesis. Hehehe.

For me it's Apple Fritters. There's a place in down in Eureka that makes the best Apple Fritters I've ever had. I just love those things. And they love me too. Every time I eat one it sticks to me like glue! http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i160/axelslingerland/rofl3.gif

Personally, I think that is one of the little rewards for being a good Diabetic the rest of the time. But I make sure I don't over do it... When I go Hypo (which typically isn't very often anymore as I have to fight to keep the numbers in check) I always have a Clif Bar handy. I buy them by the box (24) and have my wife stash them away until I absolutely need them. I also carry them when I go on a bike ride, just in case.
